Clutch for a 3.6 RS flywheel?

I have got a 964 engine with an RS flywheel thats going into my 69 car, on top of that I have a G50 transmission.
But do I need a different clutch disc and pressure plate to go with that single mass fly wheel?

Crap, that was a lot of stuff!
The clutch release arm (which I don't have) is that special for the RS?

I am sure there is more than one way to do this, but I ended up with a collection of various parts and special spacers to fit between my RS flywheel and the G50 box kinda like this.
More details here.

Cool!

The two ring gears, was that because of the mish-mash of parts or the starter itself?

Where did you get the hi torque starter, I need a new starter as well I remember now....

The two ring gears are to get the correct relationship with the starter pinion due to the combination of parts. One is just used as a spacer. The Bosch and HighTorque starters should have their pinions in the same position, so the starter itself isn't an issue.
That said, the starter first chewed up a ring gear because it wasn't fully meshing with it and the second one was too large to mesh at all. HighTorque persevered and sent a third pinion which is a smaller diameter 10 teeth version and it works just fine. This thread covered some of the issues.
Pelican sells these starters.

I have sourced most of the parts needed now.

Another issue, I have no starter!
I searched for porsche 964 starter on ebay and the results shows 2 different looking starters.

Starter Porsche 911 964 - 993 - 996 - 997 3.3 3.6 3.7 3.8 0001110059 0001110081 | eBay

Anlasser für Porsche 964 / 993 VALEO / Starter NEU.....Kein Austausch nötig..!!! | eBay

Are they interchangeble?
My friends 964 has the first kind, the "long one" with a support bearing in the transmission.
My 87-88 g50 doesn't have that bearing.

Should I use the second "enclosed" type with my g50?

My starter for '88 G50 looks like this ...

It works with a 3.6, but it doesn't really matter what engine or flywheel is used as long as the ring gear is in the right position.

Thanks Bill.
I'll have to move the ring gear like you have done I guess.

I did it almost like Bills diagram above.

I used an extra ring gear as spacer/centering of the pressure plate. then had an 8 mm spacer done between the PP and ring gear, hopefully I measured correctly.
I then welded a few tacks on the ring gear and ground them down to 1.5 mm so it would center on the PP.

Had a friend draw it and create some form of CAD-file, then he got it cut on a water jet in 8mm aluminum plate. $40 fair price to say the least!!

However, the problems doesn't stop here for me. Because when I put the gearbox and engine together I can't insert the pivot arm of the clutch release arm.
Its like the release arm doesn't have the "reach" to grab the release bearing.

It could be because:
1. I have the normal 3.6 release bearing instead of the RS (944.116.080.01)?
2. I have the clutch release arm from a 964 G50 (not the same part no as the 3.2 G50).
3. Both of the above.

What do you guys think? Start with the RS release bearing?

Yes you need the 968 release bearing with the long contact fingers.
