2 connectors near fuse box - not connected to anything - What are they
Dug around, cannot see any obvious place these go to, for other options or spec cars?
Car is a US Spec 89 carrera coupe with most options (no rear wiper) See pic: ![]() Last edited by spyerx; 08-08-2015 at 07:08 PM.. |

I think the white colored one on the right on top there is for your clock. Does it have a thin black wire coming out of it? Do you have a functioning clock?

Anyone? Car is not near me and on road for biz, but will get voltage and key position ASAP.
Tried to find in the Bentley manual... I'm not a pro at schematics. No dice. |

I have a 1987 Turbo and the fuse panel has the exact same wire connectors that are also not connected to anything - pretty common for Porsche to do things like that (head-studs, wiring, and a/c were three things Porsche sucked at, big time).
I don't know what they were used for on previous/other models, but never gave it any thought. |

It just looks like it SHOULD be connected (especially he red one!). Add to this the open spades in the engine compartment near the fuel pump that may be there for the rear wiper, the connection near the DME for timing (looks unconnected... ) my OCD is getting the better of me. I'll tape them up and leave them be. Who knows if that thing could cause a short. I hear the 915 has "character" :-) |

Believe it or not (BUTT knowing Porsche's wiring prowess, I'm sure you can believe it) that wire in the square housing on the left of your picture is hot (have not checked the other one in my car)- pretty wild to think the factory has it knocking around there like that, but that's how they do it.
Mike, so true about the transmissions! |

Legacy wires in every harness. It's the Porsche way...

It only has character if it's broken, and in need of servicing, but the owner thinks that's just how it is.
Many posters' 915 shift perfectly fine.

Glad to see this thread... I had the same connectors flapping around and couldn't figure out what was missing...

Maybe someone put in an alarm system and someone else took it out? Maybe part of a removed mod of some other kind by a PO.

well at first i thought the same but these are OEM connections - and seems a few others have confirmed the same wires. so i'm going with phantoms left in the wiring looms. will tape it up with some trusty 3m super 88.
