Rust proofing the hood - cavity way
Hi guys - hope everyone is having a good week.
Anyone been there / done that on using a cavity wax to rust proof the hood. Specially looking for coaching on how I can shoot rust converter into the double skinned parts of the hood prior to painting and installing it. I've used this Eastwood product effectively on frames / interior panels on my British cars and 911 rocker area, thinking of doing the same on the interior of the hood just to be safe.

One of the tricks I read about in the body forum was to use POR15 and a garden spray bottle with the nozzle set to mist. Run the wand in through an access hole to apply. This was described as a way to seal up rocker panels once welded shut.

I use Wurth's cavity wax.
But I don't see the hoods as being prone to rust even where i live within the rust belt. In fact the only part of the 911 here that are not rusty are the hoods usually. Engine lids rust around latch where steel is folded. Out in dry SoCal, i think your wasting your time worrying about the hood cavity. Just adding weight Good luck with the project though

Hi. Yes, I know I am being cautious but we're talking ounces rather than pounds here and I plan to be buried in this darn thing.
@tharbert - this is a similar approach but easier since it comes in aerosol form and has a wand that comes with it. Not knocking POR15, but this stuff is super easy to use.

FYI, long hoods have foam along the inside of the leading edge. Not sure about short hoods though.
