I am not sure about the SC but I think it also has a 45 second to 1 minute initial warm up idle which will be higher than normal.

How long before it settles down or does it?

You don't want to change the designed operational system...it's there for a purpose.
How high does the idle go and for how long....once it abates what is the idle when warm.

You can adjust your idle by adjusting your CO at the fuel head if the mixture is off and then adjust it near the accelerator cable...the CO should be checked first (air fuel ration) if it's been sitting awhile and then the fine tuneing of the idle.

if you want to really fix it youll have to modify the AAR. its just a matter of removing it and knocking a pin. the mod just changes the start point of the disk inside so from cold start less air gets past it

the hi idle is there for a reason. 1200 is about normal. unless it is above 1500 i would leave it alone.

You want the engine to idle high cold to aid heating up engine as quick as possible and prevent stalling.
