What are my options for improving oil cooling on a 1984 ROW Carrera made for Germany but living in Texas?

You can upgrade the oil cooler:

I did this hierogk (live in Austin)
Two things seem to have made the most difference for me: 1. I adjusted the timing to spec. 2. I installed a factory Carerra cooler (salvaged off an 85) into my front fender well. It cools fine now. Can get hot in stop/go on hot summer days, but runs great all other times.

Some previous owner had upgraded the oil cooler in my '83 SC to an aftermarket one. I have the original docs on it and it's called a 'Terbatrol'. Basically, it's an upgraded cooler with a fan. I'm not sure these are made anymore but I think there are other products available that do the same thing.
The fan is great especially if you're sitting in traffic. You could wire the fan to a thermostat that turns it on when the oil temp reaches a certain point. Or you could wire it to a switch in the cabin. Mine is wired to the switch for the rear wiper (but I don't have a rear wiper). Another option is the finned oil lines from Elephant Racing.
