The Olsen Twins

It had to happen sooner or later. Singer Vehicle Design restores and reinvents 964s as vintage-looking 911s with modern components as a no-compromise package for well-heeled buyers. The basic look of a Singer 911 is fairly consistent, and now one has come out with a color scheme that matches my own car. According to their Instagram account, it's called 'Switzerland' -- which I'm pretty sure means that Switzerland is where its future owner lives.

There are a lot of black 911s out there. But I think this is the first time where I've seen someone else use the Porsche script along the sides of a black widebody. No surprise, I like the way it looks. It might be the first time they didn't do a two-tone version of the side graphic.

Maybe the effect is like if you saw yourself played by a Hollywood actor in a movie. It would be strange (and kind of cool) to see it in person. I wouldn't turn down the chance to drive it, either.

What would be more interesting to see these two on the track with time overlays - same driver.

They both look fantastic and one day I too will be copying your car Jack! Your car gave me the long hood widebody bug a few years ago. I hope to make my own version some day.

If it goes to Switzerland, I hope the new owner knows what he is getting into with regards to getting it registered... Silliest, strictest laws here for non-homolgated cars.

There are lots of us out there like Puddy.
In my case I played with the idea of also doing the stripe but in the end I felt that would not be right to do a direct copy, so I came up with my own design without the stripe.

The twins are beautiful together in those pics though

I like Jack's better too.

10 Reason's I like Jacks Better:
1) Square, stock mirrors look better
2) Brighter wheels look better (although I would prefer 16")
3) Original style duck - looks better
4) Early "S" valence looks better
5) Euro H4's look period correct and better
6) American tail lights look better on black
7) No chrome trim on tail lights and front markers looks better
8) Split exhaust looks better. Singer exhaust needs a valance to tone it down.
9) Singer probably has a sunroof and squeaks- scratch that Edit: I like the fact that Jack's didn't cost $400-500k
10) Jack's looks better without the rear reflector in bumper trim.

1 Item I like about the Singer:
1) I like the 993 wiper arms - just sayin...

Tidybuoy - I'm pretty sure the roof skin on the Singer is carbon fiber, so I doubt there's a squeaky sunroof. And for $400-500K, I'm fairly certain they make sure there's no squeaks!!

Well this is apropos. I was just watching the petrolicious video about you Jack (hadn't watched it in a while, but pretty sure I have about 100k of the 500k views on my own mac). The thing I have always loved and admired about your car Jack has more to do with your philosophical view of the car, and not it looks. It is the classic case of form following function. And as I was watching, i saw all of the blemishes that a car such as yours, driven properly, would have, and you know what - that is what makes Black Beauty, Black Beauty. The car is gorgeous with all of her lumps and bruises. It will always be my favorite 911. Cheers Jack!

You are correct, at the start of production, each Singer car gets named for where it will ultimately be imported to. It is referred to by this name throughout production / along the production line, etc. This being said, some have ended up going elsewhere (or in the case of at least one owner that I'm aware of, his second(!) Singer stayed in CA) upon completion. As you may imagine, such well heeled owners have property around the globe. Must be tough... figuring out where to keep your Singer(s).

Now that Singer production has ramped, I'm not sure how the naming convention will change when they manufacture a vehicle for another buyer from a geographic place they already built a car for.

I borrowed their naming convention during my M491 search as I was having difficulty keeping up with all the different cars. Instead of the white cab with X miles & options, or the black coupe with Y miles & options, the silver cab, etc., I opted to refer to them as Seattle, Carlsbad, Salida, Houston, Point Loma and Morgan Hill, etc. it helped me keep all the different cars straight in my mind. I continue to refer to my car as Point Loma.

Anywho, as it pertains to the Olsen twins. I'd be ecstatic with either.

I think that Jacks car is as expensive over the years as the Singer if you count in all the tires, damage to body and let us not forget windshield.

It was jacks car that lost the windshield when going backwards over the curb with the windows open right?

For one reason or another that stuck with me....
