Sounds good, Ben,

Can you refer me to a site that sells the urethane or rubber connectors for my intake pipes? One of these was missing when I bought my kit and I must be searching for the wrong part name because I haven't found one yet.

Chris

kind of SOL on those. I was going to have them made and had good quotes but no body stepped forward to put a deposit on them so I can the project(I don't need 25 of each boot sitting on the shelf).. Maybe aluminum is the answer?? It is not totatlly dead but I need to have about 10 people put in firm deposits to do this

When you say damaged by overboost, how much pressure are we talking?

What does that mean? you have a hole in the diaphram? Or your margin for error is too close to the limits of the compression?

Finally installed my MSD box last night. This model 6AL will retard my timing if I ever figure out where to attach the pressure hose to a vacuum outlet on the intake.

Does anyone have pics of how they routed their "vacuum" lines and pressure line to an MSD box?

I hooked it up to the throttle body. There should be an extra fitting back where the dizzy vac advance lines hooks up

Thanks.

Does everyone here agree that I should not have to enrich my mixture if I only run 3-5 lbs of boost?

My MSD will retard the timing.

Also, can anyone recommend an exhasut gas temp gauge I can use to warn me if the system ever goes lean?

Will the MSD 6AL retard thetiming per boost? I thought this was only done using a MSD BTM6

This should help at higher boost levels to avoid detonation

Yes. The 6AL I have includes the ability to retard at 1 lb, 2 lbs, and 3 lbs of boost. There is also a dial controller I can put on my dash. I believe the 3 settings on the knob will retard timing further, but am not sure yet.

The next step in my current plan is to get an exhaust temp guage to monitor mixure before installation.

Do you want the part number, etc off the MSD box?

I actually installed a MSD BTM this weekend for the same purposes of turbo charging. I plan on doing the turbo in the next 2 months but am also curious on how much boost I can run safely.

Pics from my weekend install

If you are running CIS it will make allowances for up to 5 psi boost with no problem, unless it is running lean already.
I ran mine at 7 psi with no ignition retard for a couple of years, all I did was richen it up a bit. At 5 psi you should be fine, providing you are running premium.

I thought it's time i check in and resurrect this thread. I have been away for awhile and have been busy working on my car, it has transformed overtime and all of the things i tested and fabricated using Thad's outline have finally culminated into this. It may be a 914 but it's heart was originally a 79SC engine all of the modifications would apply to the 911's.
