AC Fitting Size Help

I have an 83 SC that I recently installed a 69-73 front bumper on which caused a conflict with the front condenser to receiver dryer hose connection.

It needs an adapter to angle the condenser connector 45 degrees before I can reconnect the hose.

Can anyone tell me the size of the condenser fittings? I have read #6 flared but am having a hard time finding a match. If someone can send me a link to the correct one that would be great. Female to male 45 degree in size?

It is a #6 flare fitting, male on the condenser and female on the hose. However, I haven't ever seen something like a male-female adapter, 45 degrees or any type.

You either need a new hose made with a new fitting, or try to make the connection then gentle bend the condenser side fitting for clearance (GENTLY!!!). You might not get enough clearance before the copper tube kinks or cracks...

I think the line will kink before I get enough clearance. Not sure I want to risk it.
A custom hose might not work either. The hose is thick and rigid. With the curvature of the bottom of the new bumper along with it being closer to the body of the car prohibits the bend it needs to connect it. The forward condenser connection needs to be moved inward a good inch or so.

I had some fitment issues with mine. I took out the bolts holding the condenser in place, then got the hoses connected firmly, then with some force, put the condenser into it's location and bolted it up. The hoses moves enough as needed, but the whole thing is under some tension as it sits. It would have been impossible to tension the hose and get the fitting connected with the condenser bolted up.

I know you have a different issue, but those hoses will move as needed, if you convince them enough.

Well, I tried jeepair.com and they said they couldn't make me the adapter I needed.

I also tried to loosen the front condenser, cage, and crash bar to give me extra play but the hose just gets caught up by the 69-73 front bumper edge.

Definitely need a #6 male flare rigid to #6 female flare swivel adapter on hard tubing.



Any ideas where I can get one made? Any help would be great, thanks.

Usually there is not an issue routing the front condenser line to the drier on factory Behr system (drier in LH front fender).

The hose PN, assuming your drier is flare is, 91157315402, if you need a custom hose PM.

I just wanted to say thank you to Griff and Gerry for taking the time to correspond with me on this problem.

I was going to call it quits on the AC for this season and get all new hoses next year for the car (which I still might do) but I wanted to try one last thing and it worked.

At my local auto parts store I purchased a #6 female flare fitting to #6 male o-ring fitting straight adapter, along with an o-ring to flare adapter. This adapter is an aluminum tube about 3 inches in length. I bent the tube slightly, just enough to curve inward towards the AC hose that was giving me trouble. It was a tight fit but I got everything installed.
