Deoxit works.

Driver's side window switches on my 3.2 were dodgy. Sometimes both worked, sometimes neither worked, no rhyme or reason. During troubleshooting, I narrowed it down to the switches. Since I had some Deoxit spray lying around, I figured I'd give it a shot. Sprayed some in all the window switches, with the car off, worked the switches many times, then let it sit. Switches have worked perfectly every time since. Also had an issue with the driver's door dome light switch. The rubber cover is ripped, and water got in there. Used Deoxit to rehabilitate that switch, too. BTW, anyone with PET want to give me the part number for that rubber door dome light switch cover? Or point out in the PP catalog where I can get one? I gave up searching.

I agree. I will always have some in my bag of tricks. For the switch cover, are you looking for this?

That looks like the one. Might buy two, just because. Thanks for the help!

I have posted before on the virtues of DEOXIT. It has solved many electrical problems
for me in the past. I used to work in the high end AV systems industry , and the only electronic cleaner/protectant we used on switches, potentiometers etc was DEOXIT, it's so much better than CRC or other cleaners as it leaves a protective coating to prevent subsequent oxidation.
I always had a problem with the dome light switches being intermittant, but after spraying with DEOXIT, nary a problem. Also it performs miracles on dodgy electrical seat switches. Get some!

VW and Audi service bulletin for the passanger seat airbag was to cut out the seat connector and wire it direct, used the above and all was good. Been using it at the shop for the past 10 years:

For the intermittent dome light, did you remove the switch from the door jamb?
Or just remove the rubber boot and spray directly onto the switch, in situ?

Just removed the rubber boot and sprayed Deoxit along side the black plunger into the switch. I then exercised the switch a few times and the switch hasn't failed since!
This stuff is magic!

That's exactly what I did as well.
