speedo intermittent revisited

i have read thru all the posts on the electronic speedo failure. mine has just started to intermittently stop working in my 87. i see that some of the members have had the same issue. i was wondering if there was a definitive fix for it. i've checked the wire connections, both at the gauge and in the access area between the seats, cleaned the sensor itself. i haven't tried to test the sensor to see if its working or not but i gather it does cause after it shuts down the speedo it will start up again some time later.
would like to know what the folks who had the intermittent issue found as the cause. ken.

Ken... not sure if '87 has puck sensor in gearbox... if so did you check the puck?

In the gauge, there is a green wire that can come loose, that is the signal wire. I found mine was loose, re-soldered and it fixed it.

Take caution when removing the back of the gauge, the wire/s are very short.
