Looking over some of those pics...

My opinion of the black RS BBS is the same: unless you're close to it, the detail of the mesh/spokes is lost. I still wouldn't go black. On wheels, I mean...

Gold does look good on many cars and really fantastic on some of them. It's kind of iconic and historic and is almost what BBS is, no?

Something about silver on white that somehow doesn't seem quite right. I don't know what it is. It's not bad; it's just not quite right if that makes any sense.

And for me, the white is way out. But that's me. Too Miami Vice I think.

Have you considered a metallic grey or dark silver? That might give you enough contrast between the white car, and it would still show the fantastic detail of the RS centres.

Not RS, but gives you an idea what I mean, although this doesn't quite look right either. Maybe it's still a bit too light - needs to be darker grey.

More greys.

So after reconsideration, I think if I were in this situation, I'd be very tempted to stay with the iconic gold or maybe anthracite/dark silver.

This was an attempt at something different than the standard gold, silver, or black.
And with the center caps on the targa

Yeah, I'm leaning towards gold. Although the gunmetal (dark grey) looks pretty interesting.

The white for sure needs contrast so silver and white are for sure out. And agreed on black. It's just too dark for this wheel pattern.

Surprisingly, getting them repainted to look OEM is going to be harder than I thought. There's dozens of threads related to the difficulty of color matching the original gold. Supposedly even the gold from BBS doesn't match the way it used to be.

That looks really good. I didn't like grey with gold but that silver looks fantastic.

My car is platnum metallic, so I felt gold that was too close was not right. I went black for a sleeper oem "fuchs" look. I think black takes attention from the wheels, and focuses it on the car where it belongs. Never was a rims guy. Mine are functional to put more rubber on the road, and conserve weight while at it.

I think what looks best depends on the color of the car they are going on.

I considered those wheels you bought, from nippy? Suprised you needed to refinish, they looked great in photos.
I say stay gold. They would have looked great on my brown car. I had gold bbs on my white '84 Gti back in the day. Thought it worked well.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. That's what this discussion is about. The OP wondered and was looking for ideas for his white car. He's having difficulty with colours on the RS that would look good on his car.

In my opinion, which I am always willing to share , certain wheel colours look fantastic on the RS while others really don't. And some of those colours look good on white cars, while others do not. If I were to build a set for my Marine blue car, it would be a no brainer choice for me, but obviously there are other colours that require more thought as the choice may not be so obvious.

Good luck to the Deputy in his choice and I'm sure it'll look great when done. The BBS RS tend to look pretty good on everything.

I think that might be Lobster red. If my memory serves, Can Can is quite a bit brighter. It's certainly an unusual shade. Looks good.

Gold and blue can not be beat.

And to keep things on track, I think gold BBS RS with a white car would look great too.

I vote for dark anthracite/red caps or bronze/red caps. I don't think you can go wrong with gold either, but bronze is a little different and still looks great. Post up pics when you get your wheels completed. Curious to see what they will end up looking like.
