Question Carrera cooler dimensions and pusher or puller fan?

Hi guys,

I am trying to track down the dimensions for the Carrera oil cooler, unfortunately it was put in my car before I could measure it. Does anyone know the dimensions (I did some searchs on this board alas no luck)

At the moment I am trying to track down a fan for it. I would prefer not to spend $300 US on the Porsche fan if I can help it. Am I looking for a puller fan that sucks the air from the cooler and in to the horn area at the front, or a pusher fan that blows the air through the cooler?

I have been recommended to go for a 12v "bike" fan, would this do the trick?

Thanks!

If you want a fan, I've got a spare one from a 964 after Parts Heaven screwed me over (long story). It's 12V, about 10" in diameter, and came off my AC condensor (very similar to the fan on the oil cooler). It looks to me like sucks air from the cooler.

The Carrera fan "pushes" air through the cooler. Otherwise it would be working against the flow of air as the car is moving.

I asked a similar question earlier:

Stoopid Carrera cooler question...

There was a guy selling fans for these coolers on eBay. He's in Kansas, I think, but they are 12v fans with an alloy frame and composite fan/blade assembly which reputedly flow 800cfm. Whisper quiet!

I bought one for my upcoming Carrera Cooler installation for US$40. Perfect dimensions for the cooler also.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the info, I can't find him on Ebay, the closest I got was a 800cfm fan in Tampa, for $40 US (buy now) it has skewed blades, but it doesn't look composite. Its 13" in size.

Will a 10" fan fit in the front fender on the Carrera Cooler?

----no---

I used a SPAL 7.5" fan, it looks to be the same size as the Bosch fan used as OEM, and it is a TIGHT fit. Fits straight across the width dimension of the cooler.

Nah its Doh because I bought a 10 " fan this morning, only because some one else had recommended a 10 " and I didn't have any cooling measurements, looking at the cooler I thought, mmmm 10" is a bit big I think. Lucky I can take it back.

7.5" fans are hard to find here for some reason... must keep hunting
