Thanks, I do fan restorations as well and use Cerakote.

I'm picking up a 2.7 RS longblock this weekend and will need Webers or an EFI/ITB system for it.

Very cool! I'll reach out to you next time we're doing one.

It's a ceramic coating. I can't recall what color, it looks like a protective coating with the natural finish. There's a guy here in So Cal that does it.

i swear i've seen it applied to rifles haha

I just acquired a 1997 engine in an 88 Carrera Coupe -3.6 ,with
KMS engine management and itb's-System is a KMS25
sport cams ,Rarly headers
2/2 rsr muffler w jethot coated headers and muff.

MP25 management ECU Specs are listed below-(they are big with the BMW guys)
System has been used in a exclusive use track car for the last 5-6 years with 100 % reliability.

<http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/01-01-01-0001prof.j
pg>

The KMS MP25 ECU is an affordable and efficient engine management system.
By using the minimum of sensors, three auxiliary outputs, one auxiliary
input and a wide range of functions, the KMS MP25 ECU can cope with 90% of
all types of Otto engines.
These basic functions make the MP25 a simple, reliable and effective
engine management system at a very competitive price.
‘This is a engine management system designed by engine people to be used
by engine people. Anyone who understands the mechanics of the Otto cycle,
should be able to set up and use this system with little difficulty.’
Features:

* Complete engine management system up to 10 cylinders
* Self-learning lambda control in combination with KMS UEGO controllers
* Engine diagnostics
* Short cut protected outputs
* Serial RS232 communication
* External dashboard (KMS CAN display in combination with interface)
* 2 engine load sensors
* Analogue input (2nd lambda, gearbox position, G-force sensor, EGT, etc.)
* 3 auxiliary outputs (Shiftlight, water-injection, cooling fan, etc.)
* Pit lane limiter (variable)
* RPM limiter
* A.L.S. (variable)
* Powershift (separate delay and cut-off time for each gear)
* Boost control
* Launch control (variable)
* Idle control

It looks like the poster's error: he copied the url for a picture of their ecu but when the forum renders the page it de-linked "pg" from the end of the address which SHOULD be ".jpg." Add back the "pg" at the end and the pic of the ecu comes up properly.

I have been thinking of going with ITB's after speaking with Al about a rebuild.
At this point I have a pretty good running 3.2 (other than oil leaks) with Motronic DME.
What should I expect changing to ITB's and how would they compare to the Motronic FI currently on the car.
Thanks, Rich

Hey Al, do those S3 ITB's come polished? Is there a reason they aren't lined up and perpendicular?
I'm shopping around for a running 3.2. In the future, ITB/EFI/EMS is a definite thing.

The velocity stacks do come polished or powder-coated. The ITBs are lined up, but are slanted inwards, by design, at approx 10 degrees from vertical.

The KMS stuff seems way legit. I had them quote me the setup, before I decided to stick with carbs and a 12 plug.

Here's a dyno run of the Dzug 3.2SS...the dyno sheet is a composite that shows the before and after. Before is Bosch CIS, after is my x-faktory EFI/ITB system...no other changes were made. (dotted lines are before, solid lines after)

a couple vids..one of pre-dyno road test and one of dyno run

Although I am nowhere near getting my ITBs running (42mm bike throttles, Microsquirt ECU), my goals in converting from the Motronic ECU/intake on the 3.2 are: much improved throttle response, modern & mappable ECU for tuning, visual and acoustic delight, losing the archaic AFM "barn-door". The big two for me are throttle response and induction sound. My previous project was a motorcycle-engined car and although I will never get the instant throttle response of a 998cc bike motor, I am expecting to recover the ITB orchestra that is so locking with the Motronic plenum.

Ferrino, thanks for the reply.
That sounds good, I would be looking for the same characteristics.

I have been installing EFI using MFI stacks. This retains all of the factory induction for early cars. Includes flex line fuel feed like the RSR-MFI systems.

Currently building 2X 3.0s and a 2.8 with the same system. This does require MFI ports installed into the head.
