Seal adhesive removal

I thought I'd post this for anyone who is searching for an efficient way to completely remove old rubber door, hood, headliner, etc…adhesive without damaging the paint underneath; there ISN'T!
Scrapping, goo gone, scrapping, goo gone, and on and on and on…….
I am preparing to replace the headliner, windshield seals and door seals from having some welding work done on the parcel shelf. In removing the windshield glass (front and back) I discovered a few little areas of corrosion on the lip the secures the rubber trim for the windshields (new patches will be welded in), but I also wanted to make sure it was clean and free of old adhesive as the headliner wraps over parts of that lip….HOLY COW, what a PITA!!! Hours of tedious time consuming work! Now I know why people choose to remove everything from their car and have it media blasted
I still have to repaint/touch up some areas because it's damn near impossible to remove it all without scratching at least a few areas.
Just thought I'd pass this along to the next person who searches "adhesive removal".

I have always used thinners on tough stuff. Or Pre-Paint solution on stubborn marks, sticky residue etc.

Thinner and pre-clean are two different animals. Lacquer thinner is extremely effective but dangerous on new or not so Glasurit like paint. It can be used but lightly with breaks between applications.

Mind you 22 line original paint is two parts paint and one part hardener with a touch of reducer. It cures hard as nails. You can wash the car with lacquer thinner. Maybe.

Start with bug and tar removal or the pre-clean.

Stay away from acetone. I have gotten into trouble with that. It does not flash like thinner and softens paint.

I have used Adhesive remover with a bamboo chopstick carved into a chisel so it doesnt scratch the paint, when it gets dull or you need to get into a tight spot pull out the pocket knife and whittle it.

Rapid Remover. Adhesive signage people use it to remove signage adhesive. (Also good for degreasing engines.)

Well, no 3m on the shelf at Pep Boys, Autozone or Advanced Auto (it must be good if you can't buy it )
Reading the reviews and questions on Amazon it doesn't seem like it will be THAT much different than the other adhesive removers so I made an executive decision and order some Rapid Remover. I'll let ya know.
