Motor overhaul and update with Sleepers Speed Shop (ITB's, AEM, etc)
Hey Fellas,
Like most of you I've been reading all the ITB posts the last couple months and have been very intrigued. I have been toying with imports for 20 years so individual throttle bodies, modern fuel injection and programmable ECU's are very common and much easier to sort. I finally bit the bullet and decided to go for it. And by go for it I mean take it all the way. We'll be building the motor, including ITB's, which will be monitored by an AEM Infinity unit. I'll document what I can :) Last week I dropped off my guards red SC with Sleepers Speed Shop in Costa Mesa. The owners, Mark and Len, are awesome. Mark has been in and around P cars for 15 years. Len is an ex-drag racer, killer fabricator and also builds cafe racers. They also have a number of skilled, younger fabricators. Old school souls with new school skills. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1486770854.jpg Today we pulled the motor. No surprises thankfully. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1486771006.jpg Next week I'll be back with some disassembly photos :D Big thanks to Clay at Closed Course Motorsports, Andrew at Rasant and Al at X-Faktor for answering a bunch of questions for me the last 3 months! They are a great bunch of guys, I think you were lucky they had the time to devote to your project, they did some great stuff for me on my 72 911 hotrod, blucille.....looking forward to updates. Sounds like a great project.

Awesome. This would make for a great video.

Cool Ryan! After a lot of inner turmoil I bit the bullet as well and will be doing ITB EFI for the new rsr build, ala Rasant/AEM with help (read that everything) from Andrew.

Update
We got a good chunk of the motor torn down today http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497682.jpg CIS hitting the trash can http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497860.jpg Pretty dirty but gets even better... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497733.jpg Wouldn't be a barn find without a nest!!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497918.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497930.jpg 6 of the exhaust stud needed to be extracted http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488497990.jpg Cams look to be in good shape and they are for sale! Head studs all in tact. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488498044.jpg We're splitting the case next week. Stay tuned! |
What is the plan for displacement, CR, twin or single plug, itbs (brand/size) and exhaust?
Cheers |
Please don't seriously throw away that CIS stuff. If it was functional, someone here can use it
That rodent nest is incredible isn't it! |
Yeah, they better not have thrown it away, I'm running CIS on my twinplug 3.2 sc motor and it runs like a top.
I would change it out but it runs and starts so well I'm not messing with it. |

We cracked the case last week.
