Colour

After much debate, I went with a conservative white. I'm not planning on having AC in the car so darker colours just weren't an option. Richard did a few spray out panels which we set out in the sunshine last Summer. When I went to pick them up it was remarkable how much it made a difference- the white was cool to the touch while anything else was ridiculously hot.

Fuel tank

I sent the tank away for an overhaul, and $500 later it returned with a nice pristine interior, but the exterior wasn't touched. Hmm. Getting rid of the old undercoating was time consuming.

Outside

Moving the car to the trailer in the early morning light. Not really a good representation of the colour, but I think it looks great!

Rear shot with louvers

I had Richard do up two read engine lids. One with the duck and one a more outlaw look with louvers.

Looks awesome!

I'm a sucker for white on these cars - simply classic.

Judging from that last photo alone I can tell Richard has spent a lot of time on the shut lines (especially noticeable on white). Nice work!!

What a fun journey or path this restoration has taken. Just read the 6 pages and am impressed with your dedication to have a no-excuses body - with the flares you want. (Despite my lust over the wide body you had previously!) Thanks for keeping this thread up to date with great pics. I’ve saved a photo of your painted lid with louvers because they’re perfectly laid out in my opinion. And the white paint is perfect. My favorite color to boot. Carry on sir!

Thanks- but I'm just supplying the funds at this point...

Richard has been the driving force. There have been many times that I've questioned the wisdom of a project like this. Anyway, the car will be back at home in my shop very soon (as long as there weather cooperates) and I'll get some skin in the game and start the assembly. Maybe then I'll feel a little more motivated- at the moment I feel like I'm just pouring money in and getting nothing in return.

Yes, much of the cost was due to my change in direction from the wide body (ToySnakePMC contact me to get those wide body parts as they're still for sale

Anyway, I agree with you guys about the white. I scoured the internet for the Light Ivory paint codes, and had several panels done by Richard but none of them really caught my attention. The car is definitely not original, so I went with something modern- the colour is from a 2019 Honda Type R Civic I "Championship White". I hate to admit that but it's true. The colour is not the same white that's on a standard Civic, but instead it has a smoky shade to it that I just love. Some black wheels and some very subtle colourful highlights (red?) and it really pops.

Here's a car that I found somewhere in the internet that I keep coming back to lust over.

Fuel Tank

Jonny, when Richard asked me about the fuel tank colour, I made what I think may have been a mistake about car colour. I didn't look around to see what others had done before choosing car colour, but yesterday I had a look at your thread and see that you went with black- and I LIKE IT! Damn! another small regret. But I think once I get it together it will look good too with the undercoat and white. My car exterior was black from the factory so it's really hard to judge what the original colours of this smaller stuff was from Porsche.
