Post Okay to have timing set to 10 degrees BDTC rather than 5?

Hello all,

while tuning up my 80SC I found that the car seems to run better
set near 10 degrees BTDC, rather than 5 degrees. This is with the vaccum hose
connected and the O2 sensor disconnected, 900 RPM's. I do not appear to get any
detonation. I also to not seem to have a flat spot in lower RPMs any more.
Can I keep it like this? Anything else I should adjust to compensate?

I do not have a way to test the CO, but I did lean out the mixture until
it began to run a bit rough, then richened it up until it ran well.

Cross posted to Rennlist

cheers

if it doesn't ping, run it. you should be able to go 35° total advance safely, with good gas. with that much total, you would probably end up with about 10° at idle.
