I took my front Ruf CTR bumper (which I bought last spring but haven't had time to install!) back to Brad a couple of weeks ago to have him rework the turn signal openings for a better fit, and add the lip at the bottom for the rubber dam. Just picked it up yesterday and it looks great! No charge for the fixes, either. He also said that after I do the exhaust cutout on the rear bumper, he would glass in a nice lip around the edge. What a great guy to work with!

Anyone contemplating the group buy better act soon - I think the deal is over as of next week. 618-622-0524.

BTW, he's got a black SC there that I believe he's parting out - engine/trans spoken for, but it has C2 rockers, power aero mirrors, bunch of good sheet metal, etc.

Glad to hear he took care of you so well. it only echoes my experiences with him. I can't wait until I have some more dough to spend on some new mirrors and a tail!

Brad is very concerned about his customer service. He and I have had a number of conversations regarding his customer care, more particularly that of the group buyers. If anyone is seriously considering the part (just a few days left in for the group price), I would highly recommend you call him. He will spend the time to describe the part and his services to you. That said, most of the vendors are very helpful too, but Brad is doing his part to hold up his end of the deal for the group.

Talked to Brad yesterday and someone from this BB already bought the C2 rockers mentioned above! Notice I didn't mention the brand-new H4's that were also on the car - that's because they''ve been set aside for ME! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

So- the fall/winter projects now include:

Ruf CTR front and rear bumpers, with the rubber air dam and rear grille insert up front.

Early Carrera rear decklid/wing - F/G reproduction with the "rubber" also in F/G.

H4's with relays.

Engine compartment cleaning/detailing, powdercoat fan and housing, and installation of Magnecore wires with new cap, etc.

Can't wait to roll it out next spring!

Dave

Sounds great Dave! I think I am postponing my color change for sometime, so I'll probably just paint to match what I've got. Did you source a rubber lip yet? Let me know if you need one and keep us to date!

Porsche Crest Ordering

Just a quick note to say that I will be ordering both a front and rear (RUF) bumper set from Brad at BW. Spoke with him on Friday and he was more than happy to answer my questions. Very professional, customer service oriented, and genuinely a nice guy. I am confident the final product will be as promised. Look forward to completing the transaction and starting my project.

For all you guys who contributed in setting up this group buy...good choice for a vendor....and thanks for making my life a little easier.

Andy

Hey Brian, What did you end up using for the rubber lip on your car? I purchased some conveyer belt rubber , but the cords stick out. Craig

Craig, I am using conveyor belt material also. I used a carpet cutter type razor to cut it originally and it did not fray from that, then I applied CA glue (super glue type) to the bottom edge to stop potential fraying from hitting something. It has had one string that required cutting and reglueing, but that was after a good flogging at the track and several rubs with the ground and curbs. I will add, my car is far from a daily driver, which I am sure makes a big difference.

Thanks Brian, I wondered if some kind of glue would stop the threads from unraveling. by the way my son Tim & I will be at the Barber track Oct 11 & 12 for the DE. I'm not bringing up my car this time. it will be apart for the RUF upgrade. In Nov. Tm is going to the Sebring DE with me & we will be using my car. Craig

Great Craig, it looks like I will be in town and driving at Barbers myself! You said your sons car is almost the same color as mine, right? I'll be sure to look for you both. I will probably be in group two riding with an instructor if that narrow it down a bit, and also my number is 11. Look forward to seeing you!

Another trick is to cut the bottom edge on a bevel, with the point of the bevel toward the front, so that there's some rubber to sacrifice before it gets to the cords. Used to do that on our SCCA cars.

Man, you stole that thing!

What's up with the black piece on top - can't quite figure it out from the pic. Is it a separate piece or just painted differently or ?

Wavey,

Are you talking about the raised section for the European license panel on the front upper section of the bumper? If you look at the original RUF bumpers, they have this also.

No, directly above that - it looks like a different color, or is that just the top of the bumper in shadow because of the lighting?

Looks like a raised surface to take up the space that would require the bumper smile.
