YermanCars,

Im lovin' the C2 rockers with those RUF-ies...

sithot 12-21-2004 08:20 PM

I've got one of these sitting in the garage from a CTR. Verified by RUF as original. It's been stripped and recoated professionally. Open the hood and take a deep breath.

Re: Ultimate RUF Conversion Thread

Souk,
I see the first picture (a white Porsche) in this thread was taken in Wuerzburg, Germany in the parking lot of the city Palace or as the germans say Residenz.
Why would I know this, you may ask....I live there. But currently deployed in Iraq.

Tom...any other nice bits?

Bavaria911..be safe out there.

sithot 12-22-2004 06:55 AM

Better picture. (most of my "bits" are on the elder side '67-'73S type)

Looks like an expensive tank. Also looks like Ruf just cut out the spare area and welded on the sheet metal to enlarge the capacity. Wonder why they felt that was neccesary.

Maybe it was a way to improve the weight bias of the car. i also wonder if thats why the front wheels are designed heavy...

anyone got the weights of the front wheels -vs- the back?

If you'll note they stamped in a reinforcing area (the raised section of the new piece). It is easier to start with a mass produced piece and make the "cut" and "weld" than to start from scratch. Anyhow, it's a very well executed job.
From having stripped it I can tell you that it is well thought out and nicely welded.

This is probably the coolest thread in existence?

MotoSook 12-22-2004 08:26 AM

Of course it is Ronnie :D

As for the mass bias...I suppose all the turbo bits are heavy back in the rear :), but I never heard that the front wheels are suppose to be heavier..hmmmm.

Tom, I'm sure it is a nice job. But the cheap SOB in me thinks this SOB can cut a stock tank and weld it up..although sans the stamping :D Not to say I don't think the tanks is cool Tom..I just couldn't afford one :(

sithot 12-22-2004 08:48 AM

And then get it by the German TUV?;)

Best,

Tom

You said the dirty word! TUV testing scared me when ever I had to perform it while working as a test engineer..ick! :)

mikko 03-01-2005 06:38 AM

Thanks guys!

If there's anything here in Barcelona, then bars!

The further you go from the Irish pubs the better!!!! And the beer is cheaper as well. Drop me a line when you're coming and I'll think of something.

Força Barça ;)

Ruf also makes a valance. Here's a widebody version. It's a flexible plastic, not glass. NACA ducts behind the openings with some elbows feeding cool air to the oil coolers in the fenders, plus the front mounted cooler.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109691901.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1109691940.jpg

YermanCars 03-01-2005 07:18 AM

Souk, if you could talk to brad at BW and see if he could make me some sort of carbon fiber spliter that would be very much appreciated.

PorscheGuy79 03-01-2005 07:26 AM

Where do you get those nerf bars and how much do they run?

MotoSook 03-01-2005 08:08 AM

Tony, do you have a spliter design in mind? (Also I keep getting failure notices when I send you an e-mail. I'll call tonight.)

Matt, the nerf bars can be bought from the venders of the bumpers. They can also be fabbed up..we can do that for you. As t was discussed on GruppeB...it is minor protection at best.
