Oh yeah...one more thing. Do each step on both sides of the car before going to the next step. So, 1 and 1, 2 and 2, undo 1 and 2, then 3 and 3, then redo 4 and 4, and finally redo 5 and 5.
Hope this makes sense. Good luck! |
Help!! I need that license plate light for my RUF bumper. does any body knows where i can find that light?

BTW Scott, your instructions were perfect. I followed them and it was pretty easy getting the bumper on. The only thing I may have done different was I pulled my rear fenders out about 1/2 on each side to help make the bumper fit a little better. The other thing I may do on the rear is buy a piece of metal to place under the Porsche reflector. Use that metal to help line out the bumper so it does flex from the mounting screws across the back.

;) Yes, part of the mounting process is you need to pull out on the fenders while lining everything up. As you seem to have found out, you kind of have to do this to help line things up. BTW...good idea about using a metal stip across the back under the reflector. I don't actually have screws back there but if I did I could see where you'd want to use a metal backing plate to help distribute the pressure. |
I did not take any yet. I decided to use the screws across the back because the top of the bumper was slanting towards the ground (sagging). And, whoever painted the car before I got it left the bumper rubber off between the reflector and the bumper. I'll have to replace that once I pull them to paint the bumpers. Hopefully I'll get to the do the front this weekend.

Scott, I love this shot of your car! The silver and dark contrast...the reason I love silver cars so much.

It's a straight through with a cross in the center. Basically, all outlets & inlets are universal. The muffler guy I use is a Magaflow dealer and recommended this setup for max through put.

I'll swap tails every so often. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1167839408.jpg The 911 emblem for the duck is on it's way from Germany... |
I just bought one of those mufflers, and the interior is just an "X" of perforated tubing. One would think that opposing the inlet like you have done will result in a negative effect to high flow at high RPM. It may be good for muffling, but it may be harmful to an scavenging effect in the exhaust. But then again I don't sell mufflers... ;)
|
I've always loved the signature spoiler(s) look of the 911, but lately I've grown to really love the look of a non-spoiled decklid. My 993 body car will be un-spoiled for the street...but I'll have something to bolt on for the track :)
Nice work, Scott! |
I thought this would be an X but it really is not. You can see right through it! Mine is a bit smaller than some of the others I have noticed on the board. Perhaps that is why mine was not just an X.

Part of the reason for the swap is I wanted to see how much more stable the car is (less lift) at highway speeds with the duck. Yep, more stable! |
Stephen, if there is no baffling in there than the connections make sense. I never knew they made something like that...but it is not entirely unreasonable as you simply have a low pass filter....simple and low cost muffling.
Scott, I guess the wind tunnel data doesn't lie :D |

Hey Souk! 4 years, 34 pages and 102,040 views later and your thread is still going strong!
Scott and Ralph - beautiful, beautiful cars. Stephen - thanks very much for the installation pics! These will be very helpful when I tear into mine. BTW, my Ruf bumpers have been hanging in the back of the shop since May '03; the paying jobs keep getting in the way. |
Hi Dave! 4 year! Holy crap... my bumper is still in the basement! Like you, Dave, my paying job has gotten in the way. I may have some time this winter to at least install the front bumper and mirrors. This spring should be fun......lots of cool projects will be wrapped up :D

Hey Souk...the thread just keeps going and going and.......and did I read correctly you haven't put your covers on yet?????? You started this slippery slope!!!!!
I've read and reread the entire 34 pages and was curious....the tail on the original CTR's...were they a carrera tail or the turbo tail? From the pics they appear to have a turbo base to accomodate the intercooler but the rubber lip seems to be smaller ala the n/a Carrera. I don't have the trained enthusiast's /purist's eye...lol Also....do any of the suppliers make it with the turned up lower lip to add a chin spoler and/or round brake duct holes in place of the fog light cut outs? Kaefer...still waiting for that straight on side shot with the duck in place;) |

LOL! Yep...I still have not installed the bumper on one of my cars yet. Life has gotten very busy in the past few years. But I intend to do it in 2007 LOL! As for the tail, I believe the original Yellow Bird used a stock Carrera tail. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/ctr3.jpg See? Later versions may have used a Turbo base with a Carrera rubber lip. Like this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/rennlist4.jpg As for where to get the front bumper with the round ducts and a lip for a rubber spoiler? E-mail me. I actually have one in stock that is exactly like that. http://www.motomotions.com/images/CT...1112078921.jpg Here's one that's been installed: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1102015520.jpg |
