RUF did a lot of un-orthodox things with the cars they made that dont follow the main streem upgrade ideas. (IE using heavy wheels, where usually you are trying to free up unsprun weight) In a no expense spared car like that I wonder their reasoning behind leaving the suspension close to stock.

My buddy's dad owned a modded YB with 650 hp. My buddy, (who raced cars), said this thing was downright scary to drive.

I think the wheel weight wasn't an issue to be honest the YB has 500'ish HP.. so what if the wheel weighs a few pounds moree per corner.. as far as the stock suspension .. I would think you'd want the cr to be somewhat softer therefore allowing it to conform to the road a bit rather than being sprung very hard and mabye make an already some what scary car at speed even more undriveable at speed... I may be wrong but tht's what comes to my mind as to why he went the way he did with the car.... now days you may be able to go a bit more stiff as the technology has come so far since the 87-88.....

I read somewhere that the softer torsions were used to make the car more controllable at extreme speeds, however, they used stiffer stabilizers though.

The car was designed to be street friendly, as well as a weekend track car.

Yep you are probably right. As good as it was the RUF was always a street car before a race car. Who am I to question the intensions of the cars builder anyway. haha. :D

Even more interesting is the fact that harder torsion bars tend to affect the ride quality more than siffer spring rates.

Hey JohnC,
Brad Stubbs at BW Motorsports (618.622.0524) does make them for wide body/turbo body. He just made me up a front and back bumper for my 911S3.6 with SC flares. They are hand laid fiberglass, attention to detail, beautifully done, good pricing...

Souk-he does offer the option of the circular brake duct holes in the front rather than the fog light cut outs. Very nice. Mine is Pearlessence White.

Later today I'm going to head down to the junkyard to try and find a pair of rear license plate light housings. Do any of you know off the top of your heads what kind of beater cars or trucks (make and model) may have these housings that are somewhat similar to the Ruf lights? Any info that will make my search easier is much appreciated. Thanks!

I used to work at a Toyota Dealer in the mid 1980's. A lot of models had lights like these. Corollas, Celica's, Cresida's, etc.
So did Datsun / Nissan models.

Exactly. Just look at the Eighties & Nineties Toyotas, Nissans and Hondas - you'll find lots of very similar choices. I got a pair from a Corolla that look almost identical, somthing like $5.00 for the pair with harnesses.

Getty Design have the 930 YellowBird bumpers listed in their catalogs, but I'm not sure if they still make them. Look them up and send them an e-mail.
