That would be my guess. I think for the newer cars he/they can get body shells from Porsche, but in the earlier days I think he/they had to start with complete original cars. (??)

Is it saying it has a 6 speed trans?


On another thread it seems a Turbo front flair looks like it can go on the rear and allow for a 10" wheel like the original YB.

They started to get bodies from Porsche in the very late 80's/early 90's after TUV Certification as a manufacturer as opposed to a tuner.

Something is strange regarding the year of this car.. as Peter is correct.

That is an earlier dash as used in the 911 through 85. 86 > had the larger center & end vents which carried over to the 964 etc...

I would love to have a Ctr, but isn't $200k usd crazy money? One could build a better car for much much less. I guess $150k of the cost is for the Ruf nameplate.

I guess you can build a better car for less, but an original RUF would have a better aftersales market price

As much as I would like to have a real RUF, would the $200K Ruf necessarily increase in value? Especially if I like to drive it, as opposed to letting it sit in my garage so I can sneak out after dinner with a glass of wine to stare at it? ;)


I suppose a $200K Ruf collectable that loses some value, say $$20K, is probably not as bad for the collector...just the same, a $50K replica that is "better" selling for $30K is probably....acceptable. Especially if the replica owner enjoys the replica and drives it as much as he/she can.

I'm not for nor against replicas or real, but I think one should enjoy the fruits of one's hard labor/earned money. If you want a collectable buy art. By a car to drive it. :D


On a technical level: The original CTR really can be easily superceded these days with a well built turbocharged 3.3 or 3.4 using a 3.2 Motronic engine as a starting point mated to a G50. Suspension parts are easy...go coilover if you want to. Body work? no problem....

A DIY guy can equal the performance for under $50k including to purchase of a clean low milage G50 911 core.

The VIN number in the add is listed as a Porsche VIN. So it would be safe to assume that this is a Porsche factory car that was converted by RUF to become a CTR.

Makes me want to convert mine..... :D:mad:
