Work looks great Jon, I can't wait to see them the next time I'm up there, maybe tomorrow! :)

Subscribed. Love a RSR.

Man, I can practically see how bad ass these cars are going to be when they are done.
How are the 3.5 motors going to be set up? Carbs? Twin plug too I would guess? |
Jon, how is Sarge doing? John in CT
|
This is badass!!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1492136049.JPG
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1492136049.JPG Sarge is still coming to work and sitting in the cars!!! The motor will be a 3.5 twinplug about 350 horsepower EFI Body is all steel or aluminum construction. There will be no fiberglass. |

Amazing looking build thus far. I've attached a link below to our own RSR Tribute build thread that we just finished up. We have an awesome DIY tech article section in case you need to troubleshoot anything. I've attached some helpful links to various parts of our catalog. Please let us know if you have any questions - gladly following this build!

Massaging the original bumper into an RSR bumper. I'm not a big fan of fiberglass.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1492562222.jpg

Was up to see Jon again today, his metal work is fantastic and he's an incredibly nice guy also. :)
I can't wait to see these when they are done!! |
Very impressive metal work going on here

I like the no fiberglass choice. Bodywork is looking pretty good so far! As far as color - what type of unique color choice are you thinking? Something more vibrant like the viper green or golf blue you mentioned or maybe something more muted? What are you thinking for interior?

Do you plan something similar for a steel ducktail? Looking awesome, great work. Jeff. |

GOOOD WORK !
but, weren't front wing and ducktail out of fiberglas the first place/period correct? (ducktail with aloy frame) making these from steel just adds needless weight... |
It's a street car and I prefer all metal construction. No other reason really.

Most of the metal work is done on #1 and off the lift and onto a dolly. Metal work on #2 is proceeding and #3 is on the lift to start taking it apart. I got my gauges back from Joe's Speedometer who did a great job giving me what I wanted. All LED lighting, euro faces etc!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494609010.JPG

I'm a bit confused about the Clock. Are those sub dials real : and is it Heuer face on a VDO movement?
|
Now the the Lamborghini Miura is nearing completion I've had a chance to get back to the Porsches. Metal work nearly complete on #1, metal work in progress on #2 and stripping the parts from #3 nearly completed. 1 and 2 are 1973 911t's and # 3 is a 1972 911T. The 72 is the only year with and external oil filler. I bought 72 oil tanks for the 73's and they will have have an external oil filler with no flap and a cap similar to the caps i'm using on the center fill fuel tanks. Should make some good progress next week.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497567977.JPG

Love the metal work on both the front and rear bumpers. Makes the a$$ look great and the way it should be. I take it that you will be selling the other two or are they commissioned?
|
Meow for that Miura!

I think the Singers were also just printed dials on the gauge face and not an actual operable chronometer. It does look good, though.

What's the finish on your shop floor? Looks great!

206 SP just hanging out in the background.......
I drive though RS every night on my way home, any chance I could swing by and say hi? |
I want those bumpers, but would be afraid to know how much they cost.

With the Miura now gone we turned our attention back to the Porsches. More metal work and some fitting of parts. We have used no fiberglass and now have steel front bumper, aluminum front hood, metal rear bumpers and we crafted an aluminum ducktail. We are using all 930 rear suspension and still wanting to use the deep RSR wheels it was necessary to widen the flares 1 1/4 inch. I'm doing an exterior oil filler even though this is a 73 model, but it will have no flap and the cap with protrude from the body. The first one is going to be Gulf Blue with orange accents. The two other projects will be identical build just different colors. A limited run of 3!!!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500349958.JPG

Amazing work! Love the all the little details, and of course the aluminum duck tail is insane!
