European version 3.0 sc

Just out of curiosity, can anyone explain the difference in the European 3.0 sc that makes it put out app. 220hp versus the North American version's 180 hp?
Hugh

Higher compression, and it's not as big of a difference as you stated.

Check the fuel distributor part numbers. I believe the Euro models had a different fuel distributor that gave better power output as well.

Larger valves/ports, same size as '78/79, higher compression ratio, different fuel distributor, less pollution junk, no Lambda system, large port intake runners. Maybe some more that I can't think of now.

They are lighter too. No side impact bars in the doors, lighter bumper struts.

I'm guessing my ROW SC makes 220. It's a 930/10 204hp engine with cams and SSIs.

for '82 -83 DIN measures
US SC 930/17 180hp@5500, 265nm@4200 9.3cr, w/cat & O sensor, unleaded 91 octane
RoW SC 930/10 204hp@5900,267nm@4300, 9.8cr, no cat, leaded 98 octane

The only other differences are the tune, ie ignition & fuel curves

For clarification the RoW octane is RON. The US is R+M/2. Different ways of measuring it. 98 RON is about 93 R+M/2, so regular US premium gas is fine for the RoW SC or Carrera 3.0...
