Paintscratch.com or other rattle-can to paint lower front valence?
I bought a used lower front valence several years back and installed on my 87 (I wanted the no fog light look). I used paintscratch.com to get the right matching paint and rattle-canned it myself. I figured the lower valence already had a textured non-gloss finish, and would get beat to hell, so what the hell. I also did not use a clear coat.
5 years later it is very chipped (see below). I want to redo it but want a more durable finish. Do you think I should reuse paintscratch and use a clear coat, or try to find one of the new spray paints where you press a button and release hardener into it before our spray? In other words will the hardening paint or clear coat do more to create a more durable finish? Also can anyone recommend a hardening spray paint brand that will allow me to match colors? That was the beauty of paintscratch - they have the porsche colors pre-selected by paint code. ![]()

Spraymax: Spraymax USA
I used the 2K high gloss. They can make any Porsche color by paint code. ![]() Kees. |

I would remove the rear lower side valance and take it to an auto paint supplier and have them match it and also get the 2K clear coat, the one you have to push the tab to mix the hardener.

3M makes several pebble grain texture clear coats that you can put over your finished coat. Adds a bit more chip protection.

Ah so spraymax makes the 2 part paint in a can. That's what I was looking for. Doesn't seem too expensive either. I'll check on the 3M stuff as well.
Trying to avoid the pros, car will need a full respray at some point in the next 5 years, will get it done then.
