Part Identification/Size Help

Hey Everyone

New to the thread and this is my first post. I have a new (to me) 1986 911 that is giving me some electrical fits. Upon some inspection, I found a fuse blown and melted in the holder. I believe that this fuse is for the rear license plate lights. I cannot find the replacement part or the size of the replacement fuse anywhere. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell exactly what fuse you are referring to, but red is 16A, yellow is 5A, and white is 8A. You can buy an assortment at Autozone or order online from Amazon. The red one on the end is for your fog lights. The yellow one next to it is for license plate lights, headlight and fog light switch illumination, and rear fog light if you have one.

I'm referring to the Inline fuse holder marked with a "K". The glass fuse hanging out of it is melted to the holder. Looking for the proper fuse size and where to get a proper replacement for the holder

Do you know what device it supplied power to? I would cut it out out and do an autopsy with an exacto blade....

Not an OEM part so you need to be sure what it was powering before guessing the rating.

Appreciate the help thus far.....here is what I am turning up when I am searching online:
That fuse is OEM for the rear license plate lights for 1986 (It is marked on my fuse schematic) but the amp/size isn't noted anywhere. Since it is toast, I have no way of finding what size to replace it with. I am also having a hard time finding a replacement holder (or would ANY fuse holder suffice)?
Please let me know if anyone else has run into this
Thanks

The fuse amp rating should be embossed on the side of the metal fuse ends. Similar to these: Auto Glass Fuse

I think these are the correct numbers for the fuse holder assembly:
Fuse Holder 928-612-479-00
Lock 900-321-004-90 (Edit: I got this part number from a PET but searching online it comes back as a 2.5 amp fuse.)

Thanks

I checked the 86 Carrera im working on...

It's a 2.5 Amp/250 Volt fuse.

Good luck.
Cheers, Louie

You should have a fuse card (911.612.243.02 for 86) fitted to the cover.

I found a photo of this on the Sierra Madre site (Sorry Pelican Parts) and as Louie said it is a 2.5 amp fuse.

Edit fuse card number should be 911.612.243.00.

I stand corrected.

I wish this was a working day because when you learn something, you can go home
