Looking forward to attending once life gets back to normal...

Tony, do you have any idea how you will schedule the days for those who have had deposits in for the classes earlier this year? Just curious, and no need for quick response.

David

Someone can have my spot. I’m not going to be able to make it this year.

I will not be able to make it. Maybe someone interested can take my spot and I can be refunded.

Registration fee.......

People who had paid their registration fee/s for the April 2020 Engine Rebuilding Classes that were cancelled will get their money back. No participants would lose money. But have to wait until I have a substitute or replacement.

There are more new people interested to register than I could handle. I am doing this alone with some help from wife. She will be 75 and I’ll 78 years old in a few weeks. BTW, I got just out from the operating room after an emergency medical procedure this morning (today) and back home now recuperating.

Guess what I did after recovering from anesthesia? Picked up my IPad and went to this forum. And before that, there were packages at my doorsteps containing WUR’s and Fd’s for testing and evaluation when we got home. And an SC motor I disassembled before X’mas Day sitting on engine stands in the garage.

I will try to keep the initial groupings with 8 participants or less per session. Those who would like to change or switch places would be accommodated. Instead of April, I like to start in May 2021. Any suggestions?

Time to take my medications. Thanks.

Tony

kenzinger 12-31-2020 10:08 AM

I'd be open to taking someones spot - May 2021 sounds a bit on the close side but could be reasonable. @tony - if you need help with logistics or physically doing anything, let me know!

Targa4now 12-31-2020 10:16 AM

Hi Tony, I previously paid and would appreciate being placed in the first class once it’s rescheduled. Thanks in advance and happy new year!

SoCalSK8r 01-07-2021 06:31 PM

Hi Tony I previously paid and would be willing to give up my spot. With 2 small kids and all the craziness from covid restrictions , I can’t possibly leave my wife for several days.

Tony, I'm still in. May sounds good, first session preferably. Thx!

Hi all,

I will be giving up my spot as well.

Kraftwerk 01-08-2021 09:25 AM

as it turns out I won't be able to attend in 2021. Drat. Was really looking forward to this, Tony can you refund and kenzinger, or next in line, take my place?

Nditiz1 01-08-2021 10:27 AM

I am not opposed to May as long as it is not around the end of May. Also, I am still interested, pending a vaccine which is currently TBD.

Contigo2 01-18-2021 02:43 AM

Tony, I’m still interested. First session preference. Thanks

khamul02 01-18-2021 05:13 AM

I'm interested in an April session if anyone wants to give up their seat.

AlKidd 01-18-2021 10:58 AM

Im sure its buried somewhere in the last 21 pages of comments but have you considered recording the sessions or having a virtual zoom session? Im not far but in Canada so couldnt attend even if there was room.

vick 01-19-2021 05:52 AM

I'm interested and fairly local - as soon as you decide on an updated schedule and know availability I'm ready to sign up

khamul02 02-26-2021 06:01 AM

Any updates?

Cbb 02-26-2021 06:19 AM

Tony,

I am STILL interested in Spring Class. I’m vaccinated and local. Please count me in! Thanks!

Engine Rebuilding Update.........

There are numerous inquiries about the Engine Rebuilding Classes for 2021 and when to have it. Due the circumstances beyond our control, it is quite difficult to make a schedule. April or May 2021 is to close to have the sessions. Most likely June 2021 would be a better date (?). I am thinking of these dates:
  • June 2021
  • September 2021

I am still waiting for my vaccination and expect to have it soon (March 2021). But the younger people might have to wait a little bit longer. Last time we had 10 people per group pre Covid-19 and this time have to reduce it to 8 or less per group. I could have 6 people per group if they are willing to pay $50 additional fee to cover the operational cost. Lastly, it would be scheduled on weekdays (Monday & Tuesday) and (Thursday & Friday) for the sessions.

It would be mandatory for the safety of the participants to have their Covid-19 vaccination done before their schedule sessions. I will be sending reminders to the 59 paid participants about this tentative schedule this year.

May 31 & June 1 (Reserve for local & nearby participants)
June 3 & 4

June 7 & 8
June 10 & 11

June 14 & 15
June 17 & 18

June 21 & 22
June 24 & 25

June 28 & 29
May 2021......

Another tentative date would be September 2021. Let’s begin a new head count. Email or PM me. Thanks.

Tony

I would love to attend the workshop and am willing to pay to have fewer people. I did have covid and had almost no symptoms when I had it. Given that experience, I would prefer not to get the vaccine. I don't really think it would do much for me and my understanding is that even with the vaccine you can still infect people with Covid if you are infected. Can I get a covid test a day or 2 before the class and present that (if negative) so I can attend? If this will work please count me in for June 3 & 4 OR June 7 & 8, the earlier the better.

Targa4now 02-26-2021 10:11 AM

June 3rd & 4th please Tony. I’m assuming a couple hour drive is local enough. Thanks Jeff Noonan

Tom,

I don’t think it would be a good precedent to knowingly allow someone without the vaccine to mingle in close contact with other participants. However, I could accommodate you in the last group probably in July. Maybe I could form a special group for people in similar situation. This will all depend what the medical advisors helping me would tell me. Hope you understand my predicament. Why not just have the vaccine?

If you are willing to be in the “special group”, or last group, I would accommodate you. You should have PMed me instead of posting your situation. I might even give you a one-on-one private sessions.

Tony

Once COVID passes, I may be able to do this. I live in Northern NJ, < 2 hours away.

Disappointing Update..........

After discussions with some medical doctors who are acting as my advisors about having the next Engine Rebuilding Classes in June 2021, they unanimously agree that it is too soon to resume it. For the safety of everyone attending the classes, it would be prudent to wait for an appropriate time. Nobody knows at this point when it would be safe or a good time to do it.

It would better to err on the side of caution than regret later. So the plan to have the Engine Rebuilding Classes in June 2021 is CANCELLED . We will have it as soon as we could meet safely. Please accept my apology for the cancellation. Thanks.

Tony

MrBonus 02-28-2021 10:46 AM

Tony,

This is a hobby for almost all of us. Safety/health should always come first! Now that I'm back in the Porsche fold, I would like to attend whenever it is safe again.

livetopedal 02-28-2021 01:40 PM

Thanks for the update Tony. I completely support this decision.
Looking forward to meeting you over a motor when the time is right!

Since I will not be helping Tony as an assistant my wife can organize the JUNE month.I just GOT my first vaccine shot.Carry on Pelicaners.Fred

Kraftwerk 02-28-2021 05:30 PM

Yeah, when I have my TWO shots I am back on board with this class.. I should get the second shot by early April sorry for my 'cold feet' earlier, but the pandemic was giving me the Whim-Whams.

Carl S. 02-28-2021 05:43 PM

I am good for all of June/ July and have both shots.

Perhaps you could do a group that wears masks and have both shots?

reclino 03-01-2021 07:27 AM

Fred,
Are you saying.you might organize a class in June? Would this be in North Carolina or PA? I just got my second shot,.and my 930 engine is in pieces, machine work completed by Nick. It would be less stressful to have some training before I do the reassembly.
David

I am just on board to help Tony when the time is right for him.Fred

Gretz 03-01-2021 02:50 PM

As much as I'm looking forward to the class, I totally agree and respect the plan to put safety first. I'm still in whenever it's safe to resume.

Carl S. 04-29-2021 08:10 AM

Just curious, has PA opened up yet? My school year is almost over and the class would be a great summer vacation thing to do.

boyt911sc 04-29-2021 10:17 AM

Unpredictable Situation.........

If it would be safe for us to meet and conduct these sessions, I would like to have them in September 2021. Not really sure at the moment if it is a wise decision to have them this early. I have consulted a few medical practitioners about doing the engine rebuilding classes this year. I was told September schedule is possible but unlikely. Maybe by June or July 2021, we would have better information to make a good decision.

Tentative schedule:

September/October 2021

or

April/May 2022

Thanks, Tony

theiceman 04-30-2021 06:16 AM

depending on the setup a live video streaming of the classes would be awesome too.

MAH77 04-30-2021 08:06 AM

I am interested, I have had both my shots.
