Let me know when this comes up again.

Having been to his April class this year, I can honestly say, Tony has forgotten less than we we will ever know. His tricks, tips and ideas are well worth the cost of attending. I had a lot of experience with engine building but the cams and chains always concerned me. We covered setting up the timing in an hour. No more fear. I will build the engine of my dreams if I can ever find a cheap core.

Freak,

You had more than two (2) years to find a substitute or offer your spot to anyone and did not do a thing except complain. You booked for a seat and you want a refund for backing out? I had refunded several payments to people that’s recorded in my PayPal. There were some participants that did not show up in their scheduled dates and were allowed to attend on different dates. One sent me an email a day before the event because he was worried about Covid-19 and attended a year later.

After all expenses, I could barely get $20 per hour rate for the many hours needed to do the Engine Rebuilding Workshop and this is one of the reasons I am reluctant to do another Workshop. However, I like to express my sincere appreciation for many paid participants who were not able to attend but willingly offered to donate their registration fees to cover the rent. Rental expenses is the heavy burden I need to cover.

Tony

Tony - I found this thread after tracking through a lot of your posts, and recall the posting. At the time, I had just bought an 88 Targa and was not yet at a point I could find myself attending one of your classes. Having said that, you have always been one of a handful of contributors whose inputs are like gospel. If you find yourself in 2023 offering a class, please keep my in mind as I would love to attend. Back in grad school 30 years ago, my wife bought me a 2-day class at Jerry Woods shop in CA, and had lunch with Bruce Anderson as well. I only wish I had a time machine.

I would love to attend again. Sure one of us can open up a garage or workshop and get a class together if you travel close with your gear. I’m right down in Northern maryland

Perhaps it can be made more "reality" based and we can just build my motor

2023 Engine Rebuilding Workshop...........

Bugstrider,

I might consider conducting one in 2023 but there will be some drastic changes. Instead of conducting the Workshop in the same venue or location we had in the past, I am contemplating doing it at home in my 3-car garage/carport. Moving the engines, engine hoist, tools, tables, chairs, etc. to the venue is too much work and effort for me to undertake.

I was able to transport the equipment and tools before by myself but it is becoming too much work for an old man like myself. Having the Workshop at my place could reduce the physical effort needed to get all the things we need for the classes.

The number of participants per group will be less than 8. I had 10 participants per group in 2018, then reduced to 8 per session in 2021 & 2022. For the next one in 2023, I like to have 6 participants per session. The participants will have more hands on experience for engine tear down and assembly.

The dates would be between mid-April 2023 to mid-May 2023. There is one problem I have to attend at the moment. I received a PM a week ago from a 2020 registered participant that he was not aware that the April 2020 Workshop was cancelled due to Covid-19. Could you believe this? And he will report me to the forum moderators for stealing his $250 registration fee. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks.

Tony

Tony, I would like to attend if you host one again, sorry I missed it early this year, just too busy.

I'd be happy to send you $50, maybe others would too, to get that jerk to leave you alone.

Tony - any number you come up with for the class, add $50 and you are made whole. Might I recommend that you have a rate that is non-refundable, and a higher refundable rate. This will shake out some potential participants from the start. I think that you will likely have a waiting list for a class as well. Pending the final dates, I would certainly attend.

I have been spending all of my evenings reading, and absorbing to convince myself that I can rebuild my engine and install a clutch as well. For me, these are bucket list items, and this might give me enough confidence to make me dangerous.

I can’t believe I missed this until now, this seems like an amazing opportunity. I would love an opportunity to attend at some point in 2023.
