Window channel felt install question

I'm replacing the window channel felt on my '86 coupe. Going to try it with the window in place. I have the door card off to fix a door lock issue so I have access to the lower window channels. I have the old felt out. It looks like there may have been some adhesive in the corners and maybe along the top.

Is adhesive needed or will the felt stay in place? Seems like it would stay in place given the effort needed to remove the old one.

Was thinking of using soapy water or silicone spray to lube the lower half of the channels. Does one work better than the other?

hi Cevan..to replace the window felt ,you have to remove the frame....after no adhesive is necessary at all

That was easy. I decided to try john walker's workshop's advice here in post #7. Whole thing took 10 minutes.

Was coming to post that you can do exactly what JW outlines. I figured it out my trial and error.
