In fact, I want people to be informed, so that they can even reference my thread in case the same mistake happens to them.

Hmmm, does not sound the like the answer many would want to hear. But your choice of words.

Not necessary; a bit overboard.

So, the only issue is ..... you need a "pipe" or tube of sorts that allows the aux blower motor air outlet steel tube, that passes through the rusted tin in the back side of the motor, to connect to the 2 inlets for each heat box, correct?

yep... that was the only issue... that's it. pretty simple huh?

kuehl 03-02-2018 12:13 PM

So, did you ponder modifying FS's silcone tube or making your own manifold to connect everything together?

boyt911sc 03-02-2018 12:13 PM

Whose fault was this?

Kuehl,

You are making this issue look as the buyer’s fault. This is simply the vendor’s fault for supplying the wrong item. Second, the person who originally received the complaint was not responsive to the problem.

If Trakrat did not post this problem, do you think Fabspeed would fix this problem? You can not blame a customer for complaining. We are fortunate to have a forum like this and air your side. Maybe you did not like the tone of his post. I don’t like the way he started his opening salvo.

But Trakrat has a point to be frustrated as a customer. And Fabspeed has a responsibility as a vendor to deliver the right stuff. Just my two cents.

Here's a pic of Trackrat's heater outlet and below it a pic of Fabspeed's Supercup exhaust system for the 3.2 stolen from a Pelican page parts offer.

What I see is a several inch difference of where the driver's (left) side heater tube exits the tin.

Trackrat's is inboard. The Fabspeed pic is more left, outboard.

boyt,

thanks for your opinion.

kuehl 03-02-2018 12:30 PM

Bob,

I sense the 'design' problem at the vendor is taking a set of headers and trying to make them fit different models. I know. Because I owned a set of FS RSR headers alike what Trakrat is using.
Unless Joe at FS is willing to make up a pipe for him, there is no solution other than to make a custom pipe. And I would guess that if he drove all the way out to FS they'd make up a custom pipe.
What he could do is have a custom pipe made and ask FS for some kind of reasonable reimbursement.

Otherwise, if his post is simply to burn the vendor. He made his point. Time to move on to more fun things.

Kuehl,

Why don’t you offer your opinions to KellogGes instead? I believe you have the technical knowledge and expertise to shut him off. Thanks.

Is that set up headers on a 3.0 or 3.2, I don't have my glasses on

May be what he has to do. He can get this done after the engine rebuild.

All,

I spoke with Doug this morning to rectify the fitment issue. We had a great conversation and I assured him the issue would be resolved. Rest assured I am a Porsche guy at heart and want 100% satisfaction in the parts we fabricate and offer. I can always be reached via email at Paul@fabspeed.com. I appreciate the feedback from all. As an aside, if anyone has a 1987 911 we could use for re-test fitting Doug's heater tube I could offer a credit for future purchases. Please PM for details. Again my apologies to Doug and many thanks for the support.

Was wondering that myself.

OK. That's way different than the 911 in the air pic I posted.

Edit: The plot thickens.

3 cheers for Paul.

Good Night Moon.

Paul,

I live a few miles away from Ambler and Fort Washington, PA. I have an ‘89 Carrera 3.2 if you need it for your test fitting. PM me the time and date. And will bring the car to your shop.

'89 should work... as long as its a 3.2 and not a backdate heat.
Thanks!!
They definitely need to come up with a design for 3.2s if they want to offer the option to purchase the RSR w/ heat for our Pcars.

I believe I have something constructive to add: if anyone is in TrakRat's predicament, post on here with a thread title along the lines of "VENDORNAME, I'm having a problem with your product, please help."

That way, the vendor can choose to answer, as did Paul from FS (Kudos, Sir), everyone can see the issue and the outcome, and no nasty (virtual) paper-trail is left, as this thread will leave unless a moderator chooses to delete it. Like Griff and others, I found this thread's title a bit much.

I manitain that civilty is what we should all aspire to, especially where it pertains to our beloved hobby. I admit to having sinned and transgressed myself, indeed I missed an excellent purchase opportunity based on my own knuckleheadedness, but apologized once I realized the error of my ways. That said, if I owe anyone else an apology, please advise!

Kind wishes to all, John in CT.
