Update: BB2 is rolling again!
The car is rolling!
It can't be started until the oil tank is back from being ultrasonically cleaned, but it's ready to go back to Kevin's! Some pictures taken by Dave at TRE: You can see BB1 in the background of this picture. You can also see the late-model brake booster and the fire-suppression front-trunk nozzle.   If you look carefully, you can see the rear coil springs:  A clever TRE trick. Tyson welded on tabs for the later-model brake duct diverters.

It's comming together well.
Two questions - Why do the front control arm mounts have spacers to the chassis? What's this about brake tabs? I don't see anything out of place.

 Chuck, if you click on the thumbnail, it's clearer. Instead of the hose and backing plate system, we're using the 964 (and 993?) rubber diverters. They attach to the control arms and move air from under the car over to the brake rotors. Since the pictures were taken, Tyson has modified the mounting tabs further, so the rubber piece forms more of a scoop. I'll try to get some better pictures tomorrow. There are trade-offs with this system. I can't hose air from bumper inlets this way. Then again, I won't have hoses and scoops braking off, or any of the components flapping around in the turbulence. What's more, the ducting method reduces air pressure under the car, slightly, providing a small amount (maybe very small) of downforce. Keep in mind, I never had brake fade before, and I just reduced the car's weight by a couple of hundred pounds. So I didn't need to increase cooling capacity this time around. (Then again, the bigger tires are going to grip more, especially when I go to Hoosiers.)

Oh, and the spacers are part of Tyson's front suspension scheme. He could explain it better than me. But it has something to do with geometry and anti-squat.
I, unfortunately, don't know squat about anti-squat.

Jack are those stock turbo rear flares, i really like the looks, are the wheels 16 or 17 in that picture, does the maker have a web site, Kevin

The flares are from Rennspeed Motorsports. Email Peter with question. I actually haven't compared them to Turbo flares to see what the differences (if any) are, but they're listed as RSR 2.8 rear flares.
rennspeed@4dcomm.com The wheels are 2-piece Fuchs (made with Fuchs centers) from Lindsey Racing, and they're 11x17's with 315's. I'm going to be running an inch and an eighth or so of spacers in the back to fill out the flares, which were made slightly wider when we installed them. I could fit 335's or 345's as well, I think, and have the tire fit. But that's getting big for an 11-inch wheel. http://www.lindseyracing.com/wheel2.htm

The reason i ask is i have turbo fenders all the way around with 993 offsets whish means spacers, i plan to track this car along with my race car but have heard you cant use spacers, by the way your car looks awesome. I havent done much to my 3.6 wanna be because ive been sick, but tomorrow back at it, Kevin

Kevin, are you saying that they won't let your car on the track if you use spacers?
If that's the case, then a stock 930 from the factory would be ineligible as well. 930's came with longer studs and 1" spacers from the Factory. That is what we are using on Jack's car. However, if you have 993 offset wheels, then you'd need some very big spacers to overcome the different offset of the wheels and also fill out the Turbo flares. That large of a spacer may not be legal for the track where you run.

oh, and Chuck? Those silicon/bronze bushings between the front control arm mount and the tub are for something else besides anti-dive. I'm not at liberty to divulge all my secrets.
It's all tied in to the other custom mods and geometry changes I've made to Jack's suspension. I'll explain it all the next time I see you in person. It'll take a while.

These cars came with rear spacers from the factory too. That factory would be Weissach and the cars would be Carrera Cups. So tell the PCA tech geek about it next time you fail tech.

Jack yea i have three inch spacers on the rear from boothe, i sell wheels so im with you on the math, its the same wheels i currently have on the car, they have been on a year and a half and just getting tired of them, Kevin
