Early 912s

Friends:

Does anyone have a registry of early 912s showing chassis number, present owner, history, etc.?

Two reasons for asking: 1) I'm looking for cars to be included in an upcoming book on the 60 most interesting Porsches in the U.S., and 2) I own a '65 912 (451326, Karmann-bodied, delivered August 1965). I'm in contact with the owner of a 902 prototype, but I'm looking for other prototypes or early production 912s.

451143 was just sold on eBay:

65 model year for the 912 went from Jan 65 to Jun 65 and was built at the factory only. Karmann start building the 66 model year body in Jul 65. Karmann was a coach builder not a car manufacturer. The bodies were sent to the factory for finishing.

July is usually the summer vocation time and they start building the next model year in August. I am sure that a couple of prototypes were built by Karmann, in the 65 model year, for the factory to make sure that the specs were correct. After approval, by the factory, Karmann started building the bodies for the 66 model year in Aug 65. In the first half of the 66 model year they changed from the body colored dash and three instruments. To the standard black dash with aluminum trim, optional 5 instruments and single bar type engine mount to the redesigned ones that used four rubber engine mounts.

Yes, that list is fine as far as it goes, but they no longer list chassis numbers.
