912E intro

Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce you to my new (to me) 912E....
I love everything about this car, and have great plans for it. Just want to
share with the progress with some fellow Pelicans.

Yeah, I can relate I got a list of things I need to do on the 912e. Working on the to do list on both cars. In case you have not checked it out this is a good site for 912 info. I see you also have the 911sc, nice!

912 BBS - Welcome to 912BBS

Cheers!!

sounds good Cali, what's on your list?

I'm going to keep it simple, I like the factory look - Here are my plans:

1) swap out sugar scoops for some factory european H4's
2) SC chin spoiler
3) 16" BBS Mahle's (7's & 8's)
4) lower to european ride height

Nice color! Same as my first E. If you're going with 16" Fuch, consider going 6X16 front and rear.
You get the ability to rotate tires, front to rear, and eliminate possible rubbing with the rears.
I found that 205X55X16 fit nicely with lots of choices in tires. Is this the car that had a tree fall on it's roof?

Thanks Tony, no trees here - this happened in a parking garage, while on a flatbed, just barely didn't clear the top of the exit - so it scraped and pulled a bit on the roof... nothing that can't be fixed.

I love the color as well! it's a cheery yellow, slightly muted, reminds me of summer... the 16's I have are 8's in the rear et11 with a 225 currently mounted on it.... it came as a factory upgrade on my 911 SC, and fits perfecly flush.
the E is a narrowbody, so I'm going to test fit them, I have a feeling I will end up running either a 215 or a 205 to be able to clear the fenders....

Hey candela,

Here's my list for # 568

1) Repair both door hinge pins
2) Repair blower/heater (no heat)
3) Replace both seats
4) new tires / alignment
5) lower to european height gotta do that!
6) and the pricey one (repaint) clear coat peeling issues (even though it looks good in the pic)

Here's mine

Popular upgrades...

That's a nice haircut on the E! Should turn out as a very nice car after its hair transplant! There are many easily accomplished upgrades for the E, ala 911S or later, and the mods you've chosen are very popular. For example, see E # 496 which has been lowered to Euro ride height, fitted with 16x6 Fuchs and 205-55-16 ZR rubber all round, has the rubber front spoiler (no tail), but has retained the OE Sugar Scoop light rims with halogen H-4 bulb driven lamps, and large Hella spots. I do like the H-4's, and have them on E #979, and on your car they look great! Don't sell off your OE parts as you develop your car! You may need them later! Welcome to the wilderness! R/Dave L.

thanks Dave, E# 496 is lookin' sharp! you read me like a book... I happen to have the same factory front spoiler & OEM Cibie's that might make their way on there as well..... I plan to hold onto all of the factory parts, so I can have the ability to go back to 100% factory if I I ever decide to down the line. I like what you've done, and it seems that owning more than one E is perfectly acceptable around here

What is your paint code? Hard to tell for sure but looks like Sunflower yellow versus Summer. Very close to each other but slightly different.

7's and 8's (particularly the 8's) will be a very tight fit on a narrowbody car. Will need to revise alignment and rideheight and make the right tire size selection to fit.

My folks '74S had the same narrow body. Back in the day, best we could manage was some 7x15 911R wheels in the rear with 225/50-15s. The 911Rs have offset of 49, vs the reguklar 7" wheels offset of 23.

I have seen some folks make fit, with lots of effort, the 951 8x16 wheel in the back of a narrow body. The 951 wheel has an ET of 23, vs the regular 911 8x16 with an et of around 10 iirc.

Of course, if you are going to add flares, its all moot.

Not sure what your engine plans are, if any, but 90~ish hp pushing so much rubber and weight may not be ideal either.
