Unknown wire - need help identifying

I am working in the engine bay and sorting out what's what. I have a wire, circled in photo, that is coming off the 'hot' lead that connects to the positive terminal and goes through the firewall. There is a green wire that has a bared end that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Any idea what this might connect to? Thanks in advance!
Tony

Any stripes of a different color on the wire? A black stripe (green/black) would be the oil temperature signal wire. It would go from the oil temp sender to the temp gauge in the center console, if those are installed.

A plain green wire might be the fuel pump wire, but that looks like the fuel pump plug also on that branch. Could the wire in the connector be a replacement one, and that end is the original?

Tony,
I recently came across a factory (6 loose leaf) manual. Let me know how I may be able to assist? Are you planning a trip my way in the near future?

Thanks John,
I have a wiring diagram available to me but sometimes it's like reading Mandarin. My head explodes. Anyway, no current plans to be west of ROC but if I do I'll let you know and stop in.

The wire is definitely all green. It値l end up on the right side of the car near the battery. I値l keep searching for something to match it on the engine side but for now not going to worry about it.

The most likely suspect I can think of is the green/black wire that goes to the oil temp sender. (That's green with a black stripe.) But you say the wire is all green.

Do you have a center console? If so, check the wires to it and see if the green/black one going to the temp gauge shows connectivity to that green wire. If you don't have the console, you may need to look under the carpeting in front of the gear shift lever, as the wires end in that area.

Thanks Dave! I do not have a center console but you are probably correct about the wire. I知 A while off yet before I install the engine, but I値l look around for loose connections when I do and see if I can find a meat for it. Otherwise I値l just protect the bare end and leave it as I found it.
Thanks for your help.
