Power Winshield Washer Pump
I read somewhere that you can convert the 914's spare tire setup (for washer fluid) to electric. All you have to do is replace the wiper switch with a 924 model & hook up an electric pump.
Well, today I got a turnsignal/wiper switch from a '79 924. When I attempted to install, it wouldn't fit. The wire harness on the 924's was just slightly wider than the 914 & it wouldn't fit into the steering column. Any advice? Vern |

Check the technical articles on the Pelican site. I wrote an article years ago about converting to the 924 switch and to the electric pump.
Esentially, you have to take the white plastic wire holder from the old switch and move it to the new switch and you will be left with 2 extra wires that can be used to control the pump in the front trunk. (You have to mount the pump up front under the washer bottle. Here's the link... http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_electric_washer/914_electric_washer.htm

You can tap the electrical line that sends power to the wipers, and hook it to one side of the switch. The other side can be hooked to the brown/white wire that is already in the harness for the pump. It ends at the wiper motor. It's there for the wiper delay that can be added. Just hook it to the pump, and ground the other side.
HTH..
