2.6 us qt.......or make sure you are on level ground and add until it dribbles out the fill hole(make sure you have the drain hole plugged!)

Remove the fill plug before the drain plug, so you can be sure you can put the oil back in before you drain and refill.

I agree...took nearly all three (quarts/liters) don't remember what it came in. I thought it was a litre jug.

I got about 3 1/2 qts in mine, but my tranny had been out of the car for a long time and tipped on end to get every last bit of oil out. That side plug was a b*tch to get out. First used penetrating oil, then all I had to fit into it was an 11/16" nut to turn with a 6-point socket. No room for breaker bar so had to kick the socket wrench with my foot. Damn if it didn't break loose. I used Mobil-1 75-90W synthetic - almost $25 worth of oil! Ouch.

Umm, Guy.... You really ought to consider getting the right tools. It would have made that plug only about 3/4 of a b*tch. A 17mm Allen socket, or even a large 17mm Allen wrench, would have gripped significantly better than an 11/16" nut.

I'm pretty sure we sell the Allen socket, and if we don't all VW Bug shops carry them, and if you can't find a Bug shop I think most Sears still have them.

Yup, next time. Just too lazy to make another trip to the store. But actually an 11/16" nut fits real snug into the plug with enough sticking out to get a pretty good grip with a socket.
