I think you listed the biggest one I know about. Porsche put the 908 engine in a couple, but they were 3.0 liters. There was some talk of a company getting 4.0 liters with biral cylinders but I doubt one has made it into a 914.

I think Porsche made two 8 cylinder models in the '70's that stayed in-house.

A Nickies equipped 105 x 86 type 4 gives you a 3.0 L that will cool with stock fan and tin :-) A total sleeper. Jake Raby is building one for his personal car. The 105s we made for him are one of a kind!

I've driven a 3.6L 914-6. Full-on VarioRam equipped injected 993 motor. It was... Quite something!
I think that one of the North Bay guys (there's a silver car and I can't remember the owner's name!!) had a 3.8L motor for a while. Might still; I'm not sure. The 928 motor is, what, 5 liters? But it's a V8 conversion. The biggest four-cylinder Type IV-powered 914 that I know of offhand is John Rodgers' 2.8L racer. Which is now a 2.0L Six. --DD
