Question air flow meter specs

1974 stock 1.8l F.I. Hi guys: I've removed my air box to do some evaluating and found that there are no specific tests other than measuring resistance between terminals 7 & 8 (120 to 200 ohms) and terminals 6 & 9 ( 200 to 400 ohms). Ben Watson mentions in his book "Bosch Fuel Injection" these plus "As long as the movement of the flap yields a resistance that begins low and increases evenly and smoothly, peaking at a very high resistance of several thousand ohms, the sensor is good."
Here are my results: 6 & 9 - 280 ohms, no change moving flap. 7 & 8 - 192 ohms, moving flap to full open, I get a high reading of 512 ohms with numbers in between of 300 - 400, floping around as I move the flap.
Has anyone had experience evaluating this meter and had better results? Can these meters be rebuilt and by whom? TIA ...Al

Don't know about the rebuild potential, but I believe that I have a near complete 74 sensor system including the AFM that I could part with if you end up needing something.

Ralph Moore, pastor of Hope Chapel in Kaneohe, has been a Porsche fan and tinker for years. I used to attend his church when he was over in beach area south of LA airport years ago. Lots of Porsche and VW stuff was pulling into the lot at that place.

Dave: Thanks for your offer, but so far I don't think I am in need of parts for my F.I. system (knock on wood), since it has been running well. However I am working on a check list for evaluating the system for future use in tracking down problems.
I will look up Ralph Moore at the Hope Chapel, it is a small community over here and I know of only a few 914's so maybe he knows of a few that I don't know.
Thanks again, Al

After taking several fuel injection classes at the local JC by an instructor with the biggest hard on for fuel injection and 30+ years of being a german car/bosch mechanic, i will tell you this....

If you want to change the factory settings, you might as well hand your best friend a shovel, and tell him to hit you repeatedly in the head, and five more times once you go down. Then, with your headache, go to a punk rock concert in a small auditorium and no ear protection.

That will be about the same amount of fun. Or, you could just skip the whole process and get a megga squirt.

Best of luck, Don.
