Question 2.0l vs 2.0l Whats the difference

Ok what is the difference between a bus 2.0l and a Porsche 2.0l??
Also what is the largest relible size I can go to if I rebuild the Bus 2.0?

3 liters plus. Bring money--cubic money.

You can build any displacement Type IV engine on any Type IV case. Some need a little more work for some applications (e.g., you have to block off the oil filler/dipstick hole in a Bus case to use it in a 914), but you can base your engine on just about any crankcase.

Going beyond ~74mm stroke requires quite a bit of work. Going beyond ~96mm bore can be done without a lot of work (and won't last), or with a lot of work (and will last a little bit) or a massive cash infusion for Nikasil-plated aluminum cylinders (and will probably last reasonably).

For a ton of info (and some propaganda), see http://www.aircooledtechnology.com .

Short answer?

Heads, Flywheel, Sheet Metal, Pistons, Valves, Crank are all different.

Basically, the case is the same... Except the dipstick is in a different location..

Bus 2.0L's wil need a lot of work to make them large and reliable..

As soon as the GF discovers that I have more than 2 Porsches, I will probably be "influenced" into selling something...either that or buying her that damn "Wolf" stove...too bad she doesnt know how to cook..

Why dont you hook up with L. Jones and buy his neighbors '70 or 71 (?)...I think that the gent grew tired of the project and wants to unload. I guess the the motor is pieces (4 cyl)...I thought he said $1k. Put a six that one...
