Broken Throttle Lever

The throttle lever in the pedal cluster broke on my 914. It had bent before. Is the throttle return spring putting too much resistance against it or is this a common thing on 914's ?

Part # 25 in this diagram

Looks like Pelican has them so I can order a new one.

It's not common, but I doubt the return spring is the cause of the problem. It could simply be age and wear.

There's another recent post on this board with a good photo of the tunnel and a broken clutch tube. Looking at that photo, I'm wondering if something like that could have happened to your throttle cable tube (which also runs thru the tunnel). The resistance on the throttle cable is not very great and I find it hard to believe that it could break the shaft on the pedal. So, you might want to check the entire path of the throttle cable to b e sure there are no hangups.

The pin or pivot shaft broke on mine too. I was stomping on the gas pedal too hard. I have some pics of the fix that I did to it. Let me look for them.

Can you get it welded back together locally or send it to me and I'll fix it up for you.
