Projekt 908/3 completed (for now)
Well guys, it's been a long road, fraught with delays and attention drawn to parallel projects, but finally have gotten the wheels on the ground and took her for a spin. She is awesome sounding and feeling. Raw, purposeful, just like i envisioned. She is pretty much what i was aiming for when she started in my mind's eye.

Those megaphones on the 2.7 motor with S cam sound soooo good at song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6l87Hgwb8k In cockpit clip to follow soon:D |
Fantastic, I cant believe the aftermarket never made a front end like that. Very cool, cant wait to see the final product with all the details complete.

As stated before, if anyone is interested in a copy of the front end in fiberglass, let me know as i still have the mold. |
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Glad to see it completed.
A few questions- what silver is that? How you liking the mid engine lay out VS your 930? I feel the difference right away with my beater 914 VS my 911's...... I hate to say this but I almost prefer the way the 914 handles  . There all awsome cars tough. |

The cool thing about the 914/6 is that it can be so much more forgiving to drive at the limit vs the 911 or 930 (which is just a whole 'nother animal), but just as much fun. The great thing about this car, as u guys with wide wheeled 914's know, is that the limits of adhesion are just that much more. Future plans include more power... much more power. Couple more shots http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1247973500.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1247973596.jpg |
Dude that is PURE SEX...its a cross between a 908 and K3 front end without the fences, truly an "inspired" design i'm insanely jealous!!! :)
Congrats on getting her on the road, can't wait to see more and see her in person :) |

Still gotta get the suspension dialed in and tune the Webers a little, but she is awesome to drive. I'll drive her up to Charlotte when u pick Blackie from Zuff when she get's her new clothes. |
Great looking project. I know from experience that the front end was a HUGE piece of work.
BTW, Did you use the trailer pictured in the background? Please get some proper ramps.:D |

That's my next project... fabricating a sliding steel ramp that will allow getting her on/off the trailer without scraping the front end. BTW, I had contemplated attaching the front end with Dzus fasteners, but since she was going to be driven on the street a lot, decided to go with more rigid fixation. |
sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
what does she weigh? any 908-ish graphics in her future? |

As for graphics, she just looks so good as is, and i am prolly gonna drive her this way for a while. But i am seriously tempted to go with the front graphic of one of my favorite 908/3's, Vic Elford's 1971 Ring winning Martini sponsored car (sans 'Martini racing Team' logo). She is a '71 after all;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1248082797.jpg |
Doooooooooo it!!!!! I like the clean look but those decals would be the bee's knees man.

Yes, the Martini graphics would finish it!

Sweet!!!! That looks awesome Gabe, thanks!!!!
While you're at it, besides the Martini stripes, how about Targa Florio 1970?:D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1248181536.jpg |
|
Wow you gotta do that. Whats few hundred $ in vinyl at this point :-)
|
|
I vote the 1970 Florio colors but with silver and candy red :)
