Wow I was just browsing the 914 forum as I was completely bored, this project is killer, great work Juice, I like every decision you've made. Fantastic!

Don't see anyone having a problem strapping themselves into those rockets.

Are you going to leave the whole area open above the mesh?

I agree that fiberglass, wood, plexi, make for a laughable firewall. But at least they buy you a little more time than open air - hopefully enough to get out of the racing harness and exit the car.

Anyway, I won't belabor this point. Was just curious about your thoughts on it.

When can we see finished pics? Talk about custom! Great job...

Thanks guys, hope to have her out of coccoon soon as tranny rebuild done. In the meantime, doing piddly detail stuff. Fabricated some 'factory-style' door cover using preformed fiberglass board from home depot and covered with about $5 worth of felt and some marine screws. Gives a nice look

Also installed a 917/908 style wooden shift knob from TRE... just dont see cool stuff like that in a racing cockpit anymore!

Running out of stuff to do... gonna have to start blinging up the engine bay if i dont get on road soon!

Excellent design and fab work Juice, that 914 is quite the beast...very cool, your 934 I understand is the one my buddy Tony Miller originally built the motor? Very tasty..congrats!

Damn you damn you damn you...I'm just about to embark on my 914 project with flares, a few aero goodies and hopped up 2.0. I think it's going to be pretty cool and then I come upon this project and my dream project suddenly looks like a Ford Escort with a spoiler.

That car is an absolute killer and whether it's on the track or the road it's got to be a blast to drive. Kudos to you also for doing the quality work that you have done - a lot of these extreme projects fail because of poor attention to detail or obvious shortcuts - not this one.

Now my only problem is how to get this all done without my wife finding out about it until it's done.:D

Great work man, it looks like a beast! in a good way.....

juicersr 11-16-2008 08:04 AM

Thanks you guys, the project started in my head as a way to recreate the elements and feel of the incredible 908 based on the similar layout and wheelbase of the 914. I achieved close to what i had in mind as well as learning more about the craft of making fiberglass molds, laying glass, carbon fiber, welding and powdercoating. It's killing me right now waiting for the tranny to be finished, but that is the way it goes

Budge, your buddy Tony built one helluva motor in the 934 replica, but like a lot of great engine builders, his tuning was pretty much non-existent, as he left that up to previous owners, which never happened. We're getting close to 500 hp with mild tuning on the TEC-Gt sytem (replaced old TEC1) and she's got plenty more with larger injectors and more boost.

Since i don't yet have her finished  here are some more pix of details. Still trying to decide weather to leave the rear 'raw' (Part of the coolness of the 908 'look' is the exposed rear wheels) or finish with some fiberglass elements.

Def. go for the raw 908 look...that thing is just SOOOO sick! That color just sets off the bodywork in the best of ways. If you do anything to try to spare the rear flares from being beaten to death, just do a blacked out mesh behind the wheels but on the inside so that it can barely be seen.

This car is just soooooooo sick!

Thanks Gabe. Almost as sick as your Blackbird 935:cool: Just wait till she gets the twin-turbo treatment in a year or two!;)

Max, thanks for the pix. I never get tired of looking at the taught, clean, functional lines on the real thing. Maybe i'll try and fabricate a rear wing/winglets for more downforce/stability when i go twin-turbo.

im not a big fan of the 914s but this car has changed my mind!

Hey Juice. I'm Tom, the dude with the 914/6 that they were working on next door and that picked up the 924 from you. Car look good in the pictures, and I can vouch that it looks just as good in person. I have a question. Have you have had any thought or pictured in you head what it might look like if you completely chopped off the the windshield and targa bar, removed the doors, and then built a 908 rear end clip that goes flush from the front to the rear. It might be taking things a little too far, but I was wondering if you did this how close you might get to looking like an authentic 908. I am thinking it might look like a spot on two seat version of a 908.

I had no idea that you had a 934. Do you still have it over there? I'll be bringing the 914/6 over there in the next couple weeks.

t6dpilot 01-05-2009 02:20 PM

Juice, awesome build, really awesome. Can you tell us more about the wheels. I could not determine from your other post whether you installed proper knockoff hubs or not. Thanks. I am looking at possibly doing that for my IROC clone.

tarheelturbo 01-26-2009 07:00 AM

wow dude!!! i had no idea you had a build like this going on, i mean your 934 is the sh$$!! but i have to say this is really amazing!! i love the custom bodywork you did, coming from someone who doens't like 914s DAMN! that is a mean looking car..

i can't imagine what it will be like with turbos in it, all i know is i am going to need a ride in it and your 934, and i'm willing to come to wilmington if need be! haha

Great Build!!
