MSD 6A install on a stock 914 1.7l....what am I missing?

I have an extra MSD 6A & a new Blaster 2 coil I want to install on my 914 which is in need of a points adjustment (dwell), and I'd prefer to go optical & install this MSD Setup:

Who carries just the optical pickup & instructions to install an MSD with it? Thanks!!

Mark

Doesn't the MSD-6 still need some kind of trigger (points, Pertronix, optical, other) to run it?

Yes. You also need spiral wound ignition wires. You can get the installation instruction PDF here: http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_6_6420.htm

That's what I'm trying to find out: I want JUST the optical points-replacement necessary to trigger the 6A. Since my car is fuel injected, the MSD distributor is not an option from what I understand: besides, my disty is not even 6 months old off it's rebuild.

If you want an optical points-replacement to fit in the stock D-jet distributor, you'll want the Crane points-replacement gizmo. That's the only one I know of that goes into the stock dizzy.

Isn't this the same thing Dave? I think I can just trigger the MSD off this unit & be done with it. I purchased an MSD coil to go with the MSD 6A on friday.

BTW: Just installed the Pelican "Special Edition" front spoiler yesterday: excellent fit. I'll upload pictures for your Kudos later.

That's a Hall-effect points replacement, similar to the Pertronix. It will work, but it is not the optical one. Crane is, I think, the only optical one that just bolts right into our distributors.
