Web-Cam

Hey guys. I'm in the proccess of rebuilding my engine and buying the various parts. I'm planning on getting a web-cam, but I'm tempted to get the performance cam. It says this cam is specifically designed for carbs. Before (and or if) I switch to carbs it will have to be awhile after I build the engine. Will this performance web cam have a negative effect if I use it with my stock fuel injection. Will it wear grooves in my cam or anything to that effect? Thanks ;D

It will not wear holes in the cam, but the car will either run like crap, or it won't run at all. The carb-oriented cam will drastically change the vacuum characteristics of the engine, which is what the FI depends on to figure out how much fuel to inject. While you can tweak and adjust the EFI to some extent, you can't adjust it enough for it to run decently with a very lumpy cam.

Hmm, interesting, thanks for you reply Dave. Lets say I turn the senario around and put on the non-performance web-cam and ran that with my stock FI. And then if I eventually want to convert to carbs, will that inverslly have any negative affects on the non-performance web-cab with carbs? Thanks

How 'bout non-performance? If you leave the cam, leave the D-jet.
