914 strut inserts work with 911 struts

Hey guys. I want to ask before I start tearing the car apart.
I bought a 84 Carrera front end for my 74 914. The strut inserts from the 911 are pretty much shot so I wanted to know if I could put the inserts out of my 914 struts in the Carrera struts since they are fairly new. I searched and ran across answers from no to yes or yes depending if you can get the right nut (don't recall exact name) Flange nut I think.

Thanks
Phillip

on the early(70-73) boge struts you can use any 914 strut insert, but on the later struts, you have to use the 911 they were designed for as far as I know... bilstein inserts for bilstein struts, koni for koni. boge uses any
