Armando, you are just a little bit insane...but I can relate! ;)

Good to see you are still making progress with the project, hopefully we can get started on Bernie's GT pretty soon.

Hi Chris! Are you attending RRIV? You can't miss that! Insanity if justified here, so I shall continue... lol

I'm hoping Bernie can do a similar thread to showcase his GT. We'll see. See you soon!

Flash-Forward Pixs!

...I had to post a few photos from today, just before shutting down the computer.
Now maybe I can start packing for RR IV. I'm so tired, all I really want to do is go to bed, I was up until 3 a.m. finishing my taxes... : (

must... have...... updates

ajserrano 10-17-2011 07:47 PM

Ha! I finally made back from RR4, what an event! As my good friend Bernie B. always says; "Sensory Overload!"... but I think I ran of out of my "sensory overload fuses" during the first 20 minutes of the event! lol

Since I burned through almost six hours of HD video in three days, I didn't have a chance to also snap any digital photos, maybe Bernie B. will be so kind as to share his with me (since he wants a copy of my video). ; )

Does any one of you have a nice in-car video footage they wouldn't mind sharing and so that I can also include it in my upcoming RR4 DVD? If by chance you do, I will give you a 'free' copy of the DVD once produced. Feel free to contact me via a pm or email at ajserrano at msn dot com. Thanks!

Stay tuned...

Cool! After only a few minutes of Rennsport my Dad and I agreed we needed to look for an official DVD. Especially since we could only go Saturday and missed the better photography weather and racing on Sunday.

We would certainly like a copy of your DVD when you finish. Is there going to be an 'official' DVD as well, or is that what you are doing?

Here are my Dad's and (mostly) my photos from Saturday:

Porsche Rennsport Reunion (4) Monterey - a set on Flickr

I would suggest downloading this photo in original size and zooming in on the car.

Thank you for the offer. I will need the original photo files and not those 'sized down' to fit.

The DVD is not an official Rennsport release, is my own video production and will include still digital images of the event. I already have the Aase Bro #64 911 in-car video coming my way, but it will be nice to have others.

BTW, it will take a while to produce the DVD. I just finished watching all 5+ hours of the raw video and I'm enthusiastically excited to get started on that project (as time permits of course, those of you who know anything about video editing know it is a very tedious job). : (

Signing off and off to bed! ; )

Flieger 10-17-2011 08:34 PM

All of my photos were 10MP and uploaded full size (as jpeg) to flickr and are available for download should you want any. My Dad had a 3.2MP camera, but those are full size as well.

Lots of my shots were not that great, though.

quicksix 10-17-2011 09:35 PM

Max, the shots posted so far look great, keep em coming, and btw, foggy works. It give the cars sort of a monochromatic look. kinda like taking a dimension away, but richening another.Make sense?

GM Max! Those are great photos BTW... (that's John Straub's GT at the middle of the cork-screw, the #70 car).
My gearbox oil cooler I believe is from an early 917 and extremely close to the one used in the Porsche 909 Berg Spyder.
I actually have two of those oil coolers and can't find the 2nd...

PS: ...and thanks to Tadd Kippeny for pointing out the above photos to me. I knew about the 917, but never the 909...

Flieger 10-18-2011 08:29 AM

I would have really liked to have seen the 909 at Rennsport, and the long tail 917-Hippie or silver Martini. Maybe next time. From the attendance numbers it sounds like it was a big success and will return to Laguna Seca in three years. Your car should be ready by then, no? :p

I love that foggy shot in this thread! It makes me think of a Historics I went to quite a few years ago; we walked up to the outside of the track near the Turn 9 bridge, and fog was laying down along the track. We could hear cars coming up, then they would materialize out of the fog and zoom past us. It was the pre-war run group, and it looked like some time-machine Hollywood special effects! Especially that 1908 Cadillac...

Thanks. I do not want to hijack Armando's thread, so please visit my flickr page to see more. :)

Front Tow Hook Modification

Now back to the project progress photos...

This is NOT a 914-6 GT modification, but one we felt necessary if my car was ever going to be towed. Take a look.

We first tried restoring the factory tow hook plate...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319001338.jpg

...but since we did not like the way this thing was turning out, Mark came up with a better idea...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319001380.jpg

If you're wondering, that's 1/8 inch plate reinforcing the tow-hoop plate...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319001395.jpg

Note the photo below, that's one of two rectangular tubing we welded in place to tie-in and reinforce the torsion bars at their front end.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319002735.jpg

Here is the newly fabricated part welded in place. This section is now very strong indeed, actually good enough for towing!
