How to remove heater control box/blowers?

The Haynes book is a little vague about the actual removal of these parts.
I've got the fuel tank out, all the ducting hoses are removed, and control cables are loose. I have also removed the bolts from inside the cabin, on the top of the firewall that holds the "boxes" in place.
They are loose, and I can move them a little, but just not quite enough to pop them out.
Do I have to remove the dash so the defrost vents can have more room to move?
Is there something else I'm missing?

IIRC there are two bolts on the sides too. Those have to come out.

It's a bear to remove. That I remember vividly.

Got it, thanks.
I missed a couple spring clips on the front and back of the units.
