WOW! that is some extreme bracing. I've never seen anything like that. Looks like good protection. Is that something necessary for everyday auto X? bruce

Wish I had those door braces when I finish-welded my cage... Not that I'm going to do another one, but Brad, do you have any adjustments on those wishbones, or were they "calibrated" when you first made them?

Bruce, only the "X" is the side impact protection. The other bit is a jig to keep the shell from warping when the cage is welded in. Summersled, there are adjustments on the jig. I don't know if they change them for every chassis, or just leave them set, but they are there. --DD

A measurement is taken and each car is adjusted differently. We actually preload those door bars and over stretch the chassis about 4 mm's from its static measurement. If the car does shrink after the cage is done... it normally shrinks back to normal causing No door closing issues. I listed the SCCA AutoX SF region C street prepared champ a week or so ago. He runs the same cage setup (we did his car about 1.5 years ago) Extreme for autoX, but my guy's play to win. B

Herb, I think it's Tangerine... makes my mouth water & lips pucker everytime I look at it! It's been repainted with gold metalic flakes. When the sun hits it, it glows. It looks the same shade as the inside of the trunks that are still the original color. I haven't checked the paint code to see what it really is. I didn't want an Orange 914 when I began my search but this lil' thang was in such good shape and the price was right, so...... I've put a little more than $1500 into it to get it where it is now and now comes the motor. MORE POWER! bruce

Yes sir. There is almost 2 inches of room between the actual targa bar and the top. You dont use the front latches, just the rears. The cage keeps the car from moving around allowing just the use of the rear latches. SCCA says you have to bolt the roof down anyway. B

Here is the pics from the one we did today. This one has the "street" door bars installed. It turned out very nice (just like the others) Who is next ?? I have a 1970 tub that may get a cage and wait for a buyer. 500$ rolling early chassis with 1500$ street or race cage. All sound deadening and tar paper will be pulled out. It will get the same cage we built here with the cross bar going behind/under the dash instead of in front of the dash. I really need to get the all914.com site back up and running. B

Yes B, you really do need to get all914.com running again. Make sure you put a link to all of these nice cage pics too.

GO lol, seriously, I'm good to go to buy that car and get a cage installed (street version please) so that means a sawsall party will be happening in the next few weeks unless someone wants to buy my tub ('75, just a little rough...only rust is where the rear firewall meets the rear section of the floorboard for a few inches) Mueller

Don't forget to write me on the calendar for October POC has cracked down on modified cars and I can't run without a bar/cage...and I will lose my license if I don't make at least 1 event before the end of the year

If you can get the car here. We can do it this weekend. I know its short notice, but... Anybody else want to chat about a cage ?? I can pick up and deliver within a 100miles of the Palo Alto shop. Have flat bed trailer and crew cab...will travel. Brake upgrades, chassis stiff kits, race prep.. You name it. All done in house. None of it farmed out from here. Enough references to make you puke and few shop cars that will make you puke. B Last edited by Brad Roberts; 09-03-2002 at 06:29 PM..

I too can pick up a car from the Sacramento area in two weeks if anyone needs a car brought down from that area. I'll be buying a car trailer from up there and it'll be empty for the drive home back to the bay area.
