AC question
My 75 1.8 has dealer installed AC. Of course it doesn't work. I really don't need it either. Question is should I keep it? It was dealer installed not factory as with all of them, so it won't be on the Cardex. In my opinion is it's just taking up space. I have another trunk floor I can weld it when I take the condensor out. The bigger question is work much work will removing everything be?

It's a fair amount of work to take everything out. You have to replace or repair the trunk floor, of course, but you also have to replace or repair the right-front engine tin, possibly patch the engine shelf, pull the lines, and so on. If you want to remove all of the system, you'll need to drop the engine and take the fan off so you can replace the AC pulley with the regular spacer that goes behind the fan.
If you have a center console, you'll need to find one that is not cut down to fit the vents/condensor/all the other stuff that hangs under the dash. --DD

that must have been an expensive addition at the dealership if all of that is involved in reverse.

The weight savings is probably 50 lbs at the most.
If you plan to sell the car you have to ponder if the new buyer would want AC, you might find that they do. As Dave pointed out, putting steel back in, painting, etc.... lot of work, and a potential buyer might say "gee, I wished ya left it in dare". If you do take it out, take pictures, package the parts and keep um.

I'm leaning toward keeping it. working or not. Not that much weight consideration..
