converting early model car to a late model fuel rail

I don't know if you have followed my posts on Rennlist, but I have been searching for ways to get the little power I can out of 944 NAs. I have turned to an idea that would allow early cars to support adjustable fuel pressure regulators. unfortunately the early model fuel rail is uncompatible with adjustable FPRs you see in Porsche catalogs.

Therefore, I'm pursuing a late model fuel rail conversion accompanied by an adjustable FPR to see what I can do. At the moment I currently have a bad FPR that is causing a slight surge in lower RPMs along with reduced mid-range. But replacing the fuel rail is not what I just have in mind.....injectors as well.

Which leads me to these questions. If anyone has done a conversion yet or has removed the fuel rails off both types of 944s, would extensions to the fuel lines on the early cars have to be made or would they just attach right up to the damper and regulator? Also, would I have to upgrade to later model injectors as well as a newer Motronic unit??? I have been told to get a Mass Airflow Sensor for my na, but i think thats a little overkill for now. Until I build a 2.7 stroker motor I won't consider it unless its a last resort for economy and performance and legality in California emissions.

If you are looling for a late model fuel rail I gave one to Gordon. He would gladly exchange it for your early one as his has a very minor leak in his. Who ever had the car before tried to braze the crack and it's 99.99 percent sealed. Just weaps a little.

ehhhhhhh i don't think so... I seen enough 944s on fire on the track here during autocrossing to consider a fuel rail with a pinhole sized leak in it....

I just wanna know if I can do it or not, yes, no, and what does it involve.
